This is a family story centering on a young Anishinaabe girl and her Grandmother, who overcome personal challenges to dance at their community pow wow. Their story is like many other families who struggle to reclaim what has been lost, to keep traditions alive and to keep a strong sense of identity in an ever changing and modern world. This play also touches on elders who survived boarding schools, but still carry the effects of those experiences with them. ICS students play each of the characters in
and it is through their youthful performances, that you’ll see multiple generations gather together to positively reconnect, celebrate and dance!
