Children's Programs
1000 Books Before Kindergarten

The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless. Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler.
The goal is to read 1,000 books before your little one starts kindergarten- and yes you can repeat books! We know that all kids have favorites! If you read just 1 book a night, you will have read 365 books in a year. By the time they start kindergarten, it's possible to have read 1,825 books together!
Not only will your child benefit from having a larger vocabulary, and more interest in reading, but studies have shown that reading to a child daily is an early indicator of academic success. The bonding time while you read to/with a child is possibly one of the most wonderful benefits!

Outside
Toddler Story Time
with a take home craft!

We will meet on Wednesday, November 24, 2021.

At the request of our families, we will continue to hold story time outside/in person (in front of/or on the band stand) Wednesdays at 10:30 AM.
If the weather is too cold, or too bad, I will send a virtual link out on Tuesday afternoon. See you there!
PLEASE dress very warmly and bring something to sit on.

StoryWalk

Such a fun book! Enjoy a late fall jaunt with our new StoryWalk. Pages are set up for walkers to read each laminated page of a story (attached to stakes) and installed around the library. This is a great way for readers to enjoy and interact with a story in an outdoor setting, while promoting physical activity. Start right outside our door on School Street, and make your way around the building. Please social distance. Thank you!
StoryWalks were created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT, in partnership with the
Kellogg-Hubbard Library.

Community
Dunbarton Operation Secret Elf
Operation Secret Elf is a long-standing DCC effort to help families in Dunbarton during a financially challenging year. Assistance is given to the families who choose to participate in the form of a gift for their child. These gifts have been secured. This year the library is teaming up with DCC to offer an opportunity to other residents who would like to contribute in a small, but meaningful way. We are specifically looking for Gibson's Book Store Gift cards. If you are interested, gift cards should be returned to the library by December 10th. For more information, please call the library. Thank you!
