Starting October 2nd, there will be a basket in the hallway of Fellowship Hall for single serve easy open food items to be distributed to children in Frederick County and Winchester.
We came up with the idea to honor Judy McKienan who was a champion of children and a true Bright Futures advocate. Some of the suggested items are: Trial Mix, Rice Crispy Treats, Oatmeal Cookies, Animal Crackers, Goldfish Crackers, Popcorn, Real Fruit Snacks, All natural fruit crisps, Single Serve cookies, Raisins/fruit n'yogurt snacks. items should be something a child 5-18 years of age would eat. (all packaged single serve) Please no glass containers, no expired food.

If you have any questions please contact Sara Smith at (540) 662-4774 or Diane Milburn at ([email protected]).

We invite you to take 30 minutes to watch a new video entitled, "The Family of Bethel" that we shared on Saturday, during Bethel 101. This video is on our website (www.bethelwinchester.com) under the ABOUT BETHEL tab. You will hear from various voices at Bethel about our ministry and what it means to be a part of this community of faith. We feel it is a wonderful representation of our congregation. | |
Bethel has been involved in a new program here in Winchester called the Freedge. And, what is a Freedge? A Freedge — a combination of the words "free" and "fridge" — is an outdoor refrigerator filled with donated food that is located on the Our Health campus at 419 N. Cameron St. The freedge is open 24 hours a day, and those who are struggling financially can take whatever they need to feed themselves and their families. The beauty of the process is that anyone, at any time, can bring produce and healthy snacks and organic goods to the Freedge for others. This is specifically designed for those who reside in what is called a "food desert" where there is little or no access to healthy produce, etc. Volunteers come each day - usually once in the morning and once in the evening - to check on the Freedge, disperse outdated items, and handle general cleanliness.

Are you interested in learning more about Bethel and our ministry?
Are you thinking that you and/or your family might want to officially join our congregation?
Pastor Dave and other leaders at Bethel will be offering what we are calling "Bethel 101" to begin in September and culminate with officially receiving those into our fellowship on Stewardship Sunday, October 16.
You need not "join" Bethel to participate, as we say:
"All are welcome!"
Join us for our next meeting-
Saturday, October 1 (10:00-11:30am in the Martin Luther Library, just off Fellowship Hall) - Council leaders will talk about our local ministry here at Bethel and how and where you can join us in our mission together.
Friday, October 14 (6pm-9pm)- A social and fellowship gathering will be held at Pastor Dave and Pastor Heidi's home in Lake Holiday (202 Fairway Circle, Cross Junction VA 22625).
Sunday, October 16 (9:30am) - Reception of those "officially" joining Bethel during Stewardship Sunday worship.
If you plan to attend, please let Pastor Dave ([email protected]) know ahead of time for planning purposes.
