If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

Luke 14:26-27

A Special Invitation

Morganna and Ben LeBoutillier would like to invite you to celebrate Ben's 30th birthday and book launch - Practical Advice for a Better World. The celebration is in the FPC fellowship hall this Saturday, February 10th from 1 - 3pm. Come enjoy cake and hear about Ben's book that offers solutions for handling society's biggest discords, concerns, and hopes for the future. For more details and to RSVP, please click HERE.

Lenten Opportunity

Starting mid-February, we invite you to connect with FPC members and friends through a small group study of Walter Brueggemann's A Way Other Than Our Own, compiled by our own Richard Floyd . Groups will be divided as we do for our congregational retreats and will meet weekly throughout the Lenten season . Books are available online or at Kim's desk for $11. Sign up online or at the church office by this Wednesday, February 7.

Congregational Meeting

Please mark your calendars for a congregational meeting between the two services this Sunday, February 11. We will meet in the fellowship hall at 10am and plan to have everyone to their Sunday School classes as close to 10:15 as possible.

FPC Office Hours

The church office is open from 8:30 to 5:00, Monday through Friday. However, it will be closed (and doors locked) from 1:00 to 2:00 for lunch.

PW Honorary Life Membership and Offerings

The PW would love for you to submit nominations during the month of February for the PW Honorary Life Membership which recognizes women for their service to their church and community. You can submit names and see past recipients at the church office or online. Traditionally, the Presbyterian Women have collected two yearly offerings: a Thank Offering and a Birthday Offering. This year , the Offerings are being combined and will be collected on April 21st in conjunction with PW’s presentation of Honorary Life Memberships. Of course, donations will be gratefully accepted at any time.

Worship Flowers

Flowers make our two worship spaces even more beautiful, and you can provide them in honor or memory of a loved one. Look at the sign up on our website and choose a date that is special to you.

Middle School Food Drive

Our Middle School youth are collecting items to benefit the Backpack Program through February 21. Please bring instant oatmeal and grits packets, cereal cups, muffin packets, biscuit mix, and cereal bars to the church office.

Scam Warning

Your periodic reminder that scammers often try to impersonate pastors. You should always double check the email address if you receive any suspicious solicitation from Richard, Heather, or any other FPC employee. Don’t hesitate to contact us directly if you have any questions.

Scholarship Application

FPC has scholarships available for post high school studies. The application is due on March 31. A copy of the application is available in the church office or under sign ups on the website.

New FPC Book Club Read

The FPC Book Club is now reading "An Immense World" by Ed Yong. We will meet on Thursday, February 15 at 7pm in the parlor to discuss this book. The author is speaking with the LRU Visiting Writers Series on Tuesday, February 13 at 7pm in the Grace Chapel on Lenoir Rhyne's campus.. You still have time to grab a copy and join us!

New Bus!

FPC has a new (to us) bus thanks to your generosity! With your gifts and the future sale of the old bus, we still have a gap to be filled. If you would like to donate, please specify “bus replacement” on any Venmo, online, or check donations.

Wednesday Volunteer Need

Thanks to everyone who has signed up to volunteer on Wednesday nights. We still need more clean-up help after dinner. Parents of K-5th grade kids – this is a great opportunity for adult fellowship while your kids are at Faith, Friends, & Fellowship!

Knitwits & Happy Hookers

This group meets on Tuesdays at 12:30pm in the parlor to knit, crochet, pray, and have fellowship. They welcome everyone, whether experienced or new at these crafts, to join them as they provide prayer shawls and other items for our congregation, friends, and community.

Worship Art

We would love to see any artwork that our youth or children create during worship. Please send it to [email protected]. We may share some of these wonderful creations on our social media accounts.

Sunday Morning Welcoming Greeters

Welcoming your church family and visitors on Sunday mornings is only a 20-minute commitment! Sign up online to volunteer either from 9-9:20, 10-10:20, or 11-11:20. You just need a nametag and a smile!

Youth Opportunities

We need a youth liturgist and an acolyte during our sanctuary services. Sign up online or email Kiki Neale at [email protected].
