Matthew 5:13-20

“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything but is thrown out and trampled under foot.

“You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. People do not light a lamp and put it under the bushel basket; rather, they put it on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one letter, not one stroke of a letter, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

The first class will focus on what it means to be Christian in a Presbyterian way, and the second class will focus on what it means to be a member of FPC. We welcome anyone interested in learning more about our church. You are welcome to attend the second class if you miss the first one.

ASH WEDNESDAY

Ash Wednesday is Wednesday, February 18. We will not have a meal that night, but we will have an Ash Wednesday service in the sanctuary at 6:30pm.

FPC BOOK CLUB

The book club will discuss The Wounded Generation: Coming Home After World War II by David Nasaw on March 9 at 7pm in the parlor. All are welcome to join us!

NEW SIGN-UPS

Our Sign-ups page on the website has been updated for 2026. We would love for you to sign up for WNS, to volunteer for one of our many opportunities, or to give worship flowers in honor or memory of a loved one.

MINISTRY MATCH

We are excited to introduce a new program, Ministry Match, to the congregation very soon. You will be able to take a short survey and get instant results as to opportunities at FPC that complement your interests and skills. The survey will be available on February 8, and more information is coming soon!

SCAM WARNING

Your periodic reminder that scammers often try to impersonate pastors. You should always double check the email address if you receive any suspicious solicitation from Richard, Heather, or any other FPC employee. Don’t hesitate to contact us directly if you have any questions.
