Hometown Heroes Ceremony is tonight, May 26, at 6 p.m.
We celebrate Memorial Day because of the sacrifice of the men and women who have died while serving our nation in the military.

Our Hometown Heroes Event will take place on Thursday, May 26, at 6 p.m. at the Blue Star Memorial on the City Hall Campus.

Salute to Summer to include
Love Our Vets Project
New to the Salute to Summer Festival this year is the Love Our Vets Project, an opportunity for the La Vista community to give back to the men and women who have served this country in the military.

On Saturday, May 28, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., those attending the festival will be given the opportunity to assemble personal hygiene kits for Moving Veterans Forward.

La Vista's Salute to Summer Festival will be a one-day, can't-miss experience full of activities for all ages!

From games and activities for the littles to live music and two beer gardens for the adults, Salute to Summer 2022 will be a ton of fun!

Salute to Summer packed with activities in three fun zones!
Salute to Summer 2022 will feature three fun zones packed with activities for all ages! The Kid's Zone will have carnival games, hot wheels races, chalk art, face painting and more! The Challenge Zone is where you can find human foosball, food darts and more! And the Adventure Zone will have all kinds of inflatables and a climbing wall! More info. is at SaluteToSummer.org.
Salute to Summer to feature more live music than ever before!
La Vista's Salute to Summer Festival 2022 will feature more live music than ever before!

Beginning at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, you can enjoy music from the following artists:
  • 3 p.m. School of Rock
  • 4:45 p.m. - Omaha Beat Brigade
  • 6:30 p.m. - Matt Cox & the Marauders
  • 8:15 and 10 p.m. - Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal

Each artist will perform from the Main Stage, which will also be the parade viewing stand. In between each act we'll have plenty of giveaways and announcements so you know what's going on throughout the festival grounds.

A note about the two showtimes for Josh Hoyer and his band. They will play a set starting at 8:15 p.m., which will be immediately followed by the fireworks show, and then Josh and his band will take the stage for their second set, which will go until 11 p.m.

From the Main Stage, adults can enjoy the Main Stage Beer Garden featuring brews from Pint 9. The Community Cookout serving area and the Love Our Vets Project will also take place nearby.

Flag football openings for K-2nd grade players
There are immediate openings in the K-2nd grade flag football program.

Preschool Playtime is back!
Preschool Playtime is back at the La Vista Community Center!

After a long hiatus due to COVID, this program is now on the schedule twice a week!

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m.
La Vista Community Center Gym, 8116 Park View Blvd.
Cost: FREE

Zip around the gym, kick balls, jump and play with others! We have more info. on our website.
Our Adult Book Clubs returned to in-person, including our Monday night and History clubs! For more information on these groups, contact Cedate Shultz at [email protected]!
Computer classes for seniors!
Laptops also available at the Community Center!
It's never too late to learn! The La Vista Senior Center is teaching computer classes, laptops provided or bring your own. One-on-one attention is available.

All computer classes are based on what you would like to learn, so contact Kaily Stanley at 402.331.3455 or via e-mail at [email protected] with your suggestions.

The senior center also has five laptops available to be used by seniors at any time during Community Center hours. The laptops must be used within the Community Center. Black and white printing (up to 10 pages) is also available to our seniors.
Movie showings
Taste some fresh popcorn and have a soda all while you enjoy a classic film or newer movie at the La Vista Senior Center.

Every other Tuesday at 1 p.m. join us to watch a movie on our big screen.
