Every day this work is saving lives.
In these difficult times, Covid, politics, and life itself are chaotic, complicated, confusing. When an engine gets too hot, it stalls. And when our emotions run too hot for too long, apathy sets in. We shut down, turn off, and retire to the dark womb of our room.
Activism is the antidote. Activism is talking to strangers in order to make the world a better place. It’s an act of courage, an act of love, a kind of prayer that often gets answered. And in taking action, the first life we save is our own.
The act of reaching out gives meaning to our lives. It puts us in contact with fellow activists, who become friends and sometimes even family. It makes us part of the greater progressive movement leading the charge toward an America that has never yet existed. A movement that sees all the hells we’ve been through with open eyes, learns from them, and continues forward unbowed and undaunted, fusing the energy of young people with the experience of veteran organizers, uniting the grassroots with the party to guarantee this democracy survives – so we can create a future that finally lives up to the American promise.
We can’t imagine anything more meaningful, more fulfilling, more important, and more urgent right now.
And whenever, wherever, this work adds up to electoral victories, it saves lives by expanding access to healthcare, by protecting women’s reproductive rights, by fighting racial injustice, by addressing the climate crisis… and by protecting this democracy itself from the pull of fascism.

POSTCARDS BREAK 500K!!!
This is really big: since starting our postcarding program a year ago, our volunteers have written 503,434 postcards to eligible voters (and likely Democrats) in key states across the USA. Over half a million!!!
We've hit 12 states so far: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, New Mexico, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin. We've scribbled away in English, Spanish, Korean and Vietnamese.
And we're just getting started. During all of 2021, we averaged about 3-4k postcards/week. In January we experienced a (welcome!) surge of volunteer enthusiasm that has produced an average of 25-30k postcards/week. At this rate, we're on track to blow past the one million mark way before the midterm registration deadlines.
We'd like to give a big shout-out to all of our amazing volunteers and partner groups, of whom the most prolific are Bob Haar and his army of writers, Activate 22, WAVE, Oahu Blue Wave Democrats, Blue CD2 NM, Putnam County Progressives, Laguna Beach Dem Club, ANDC and Greater Andover Indivisible. Our many targeted messages – including Democrats Deliver (and Republicans don't) – are getting out to incredible numbers of people thanks to your efforts, and this will make a huge difference this fall, when all the new Democrats we've registered show up at the polls! SOCIAL STORM SETS RECORDS
The storm just keeps getting bigger! For each of the last six weeks, Field Team 6 Social Stormers generated over 40 million impressions. And then came last week. It's like The Perfect Storm and Twister had a baby, slapped it on the butt and said, "Go register Democrats."
We beat all our previous records and created over 58 million impressions, from almost 12k tweets, and garnered over 108k likes & retweets. We got our big, beautiful, blue messages out there in front of a lot of eyes, promoting President Biden's remarkable successes and urging people to register Democrats so we can have even more successes... successes that will actually benefit all of us.
The stakes in the coming election cycle are so high (you know, the fate of democracy and all) that we're not letting up. We'll be looking to break records all year, and come November there'll be nothing but blue in the wake of this storm. Click HERE to join!

Field Team 6's brand new rewards program — Race for Democracy — is off and running. Yes, we are absolutely hammering that race metaphor.
Members are already earning rewards just by doing the stuff they've already been doing, like donating, volunteering, and even following Field Team 6 on the socials.

One of Field Team 6's coolest tools is our Voter Drive in a Box – the digital version of everything you need to hold your own voter drive in a swing state: training videos, manuals, cheat sheets, etc.
Now we're introducing the physical version. Our Voter Drive in a Box Box is not just metaphorical... it’s an actual box filled with everything you need to host your own voter drive: clipboards, pens, forms, stickers, and more – for up to 8 volunteers!
To achieve our goal of mailing one of these state-specific goodie boxes—for free!—to every volunteer who signs up to lead their first voter drive, we're looking for people to Adopt-a-Box. It'll cost us about $60 to buy, stock and ship each box, but we think the dividends it will pay in the voter registration ground game will be priceless. Won't you adopt a box today? STRATEGY BRIEFING
The night of this briefing, we will be eight months out from the November 8th midterms. Can we save the Senate, the House, and the democracy itself? What we do every day between now and then will decide it.
We have a plan. We have updated metrics on our effectiveness. And as always, we have lots of fun, creative new ways to register new Democrats – the most important step we can take toward winning in November.
Trump’s Republicans are counting on apathy to fuel their victory. What they don’t see is this huge army of volunteers and donors who care more than they could possibly imagine… Who care enough to spend every available day and dollar reaching out to good-hearted people and adding their voices to the growing chorus of millions coming to the rescue of this democracy.

We're texting Texas, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and CA-22 (formerly CA-21)… all vital states/districts in the battle to save democracy. Let's register Democratic voters who can elect Democrats up and down the ballot!

VOLUNTEER SHOUT-OUT: SUSAN MACHTINGER |
|
This week, the Field Team 6 appreciation party is lighting the virtual fireworks for an incredible volunteer, Susan Machtinger, who lives in Marin County and has been politically active since the age of five!
"I began my activism during the 1960 presidential election when I rode around on my father’s shoulders as he rang doorbells for John F. Kennedy. I’ve volunteered in every presidential election since. In the past ten years, I've become a year-round liberal activist."
Susan is motivated by her belief in the Constitutional notion of making a more perfect union. "The enemies of Democracy depend on cynicism and passivity, and I’m just too obstreperous and idealistic to keep my mouth shut or expect other people to defend it for me. My dad called me ‘the little red hen' – I have to do it myself."
When it comes to specific causes, she's passionate about protecting and expanding voting rights, housing justice, and criminal justice reform. With Field Team 6, Susan has focused on phone bank organizing/hosting, plus other special projects.
She says she seems to be attracted to doing hard stuff, like competing in triathlons. "I’m willing to take the chance of failing in order to succeed, which is essential in both politics and athletics. It takes courage and a bit of madness to walk up to, or call, a complete stranger and ask them about their political beliefs."
Susan puts all her skills to good use in her activism. Her athleticism saved the day when she was canvassing for Beto O'Rourke's Senate campaign, and she was chased by a sheep who was being chased by a German Shepherd through the streets of suburban Houston. And her ability to roll with anything came in handy during another canvass, when a man at a gas station saw her Pavarotti t-shirt and decided to sing her the Nessun Dorma aria from Turandot! Susan dreams of an America that continues to be "a democracy with a solid Democratic majority in both houses of Congress and a Democrat in the White House. A Supreme Court that protects the rights of individuals and the environment and not just corporate interests."
Susan, we're so thankful that you are the little red hen – that you use words like obstreperous – and that you've dedicated your life to fearless political activism. And we're honored you've chosen to join Field Team 6 as we all work toward forming a more perfect union together!

AMERICA CROWNED ITS QUEEN!
Our most exciting online event ever – America Needs a Queen: Drag Queens do Democracy... and Sports! – was a smashing success!
Attendees from all over the country sat rapt before their screens to watch living legends including Detox, Milk, Joey Jay, Salina Estitties, Cali & Torie Balmain, and Becky, compete for the gold in Badminton, Vogue Racing, and Figure Skating. Our brilliant hosts, Brita Filter and Alaska, emceed a night full of scandalous trash talk, hilarious twists, and seriously amazing performances.
And the winner was... REDACTED. If you don't know, you can watch a recording of the show HERE for just a $10 donation.
The results of the event were amazing. The epic social media reach of our drag stars got the word out about voter registration to almost 4 million more people. The event was attended by reporters from the LA Times and the Associated Press, and was promoted by groups including Queerty, Indivisible Chicago, and Broadway World.
Massive thank you to everyone who helped us pull off this gigantic event!

GEORGIA NITTY GRITTY VIDDY
& VOTER DRIVE IN A BOX
We've been doing these awesome little videos as part of each battleground state's Voter Drive in a Box. They're fun, they're quick, and they teach you exactly how to register Democrats using either a paper form or with Voterizer.org on a smartphone or tablet.
Georgia… is on our mind! Georgia did all of us—and democracy itself—a huge solid in January of 2021 by electing Senators Jon Ossoff and the Reverend Raphael Warnock. We want to help turn the rest of Georgia blue and pave the way for our hero Stacey Abrams to take her rightful place in the Peach State Governor’s Mansion.
