THIS is Centro...
through 2022
Querida comunidad,

Thank you for believing in a strong Centro. While reflecting on 2022, we realized how much we have grown. But also, 2022 was a year of openness and energy coming back to Centro as we expand on the trust and terrain of our community and express the joy, we bring to everyone who comes to Centro. We look forward to continuing this work in 2023!
Centro joy during 2022

More to come in early 2023!
Family Support
The Family Support team has connected with over 1000 new community members!

Every month in 2022, Family Support staff provided 25-30 families with personalized case management.

True to their tireless efforts, Francy, Brenda, Ismael, and Victor did an excellent job by facilitating workshops about family law, driving in Wisconsin, and labor law to educate community members.
Throughout the year this team carried on constant legal clinics and immigration fairs to provide legal assistance to the community.
Workforce
The labor market is constantly changing and requiring new skills. At Centro, we believe in a growth mindset and adaptability to the labor archetype while keeping with our values.

Centro has partnered with Google Certificates to provide paid training to the Latinx community with a toolkit to aspire upward.
During 2022 the Workforce team welcomed two new members, Jorge and Irma, who have undertaken Caminos Innotech and Caminos Finance programs. Their vibrant energy has brought to Centro fresh perspectives.
Youth
Expanding our roots and based on the staff input, Centro opened a space for Escalera & Juventud at Memorial High School & Jefferson Middle School to guide youth by welcoming Angelica Catalán, an inspiring coordinator for both programs.

The Youth team also held summer programs like Juventuras and activities designed for raising Latinx youth voice and empowerment with more than 150 participants.
The mentoring pilot, “Avanzando Ambassador Program,” bloomed in 2022 from Avanzando Through College alumni’s voices. They used their experiences to work with 9th graders in their high school-college journey.

Their last event, “Paso a Paso” was held at Madison College this past November, with over 40 students showing interest in the program.
Community Access
Latinx in Wisconsin have the lowest rates of health insurance enrollment. Our long-standing partnership with Covering Wisconsin welcomed Edu Ravelo, who will support Latinx access to important health insurance resources. His constant efforts, smiles, and hidden talents are always appreciated at Centro.
Luly, our veteran bilingual/bicultural health care access navigator, has been a true trailblazer, now leading La Red de Cobertura Latinx, statewide, a conduit for community building for those working tireless to expand health insurance access for Latinx families.
Our programs serving the community
We aim to create brave spaces where Latinx students can develop a deep sense of belonging to each other, their school and the community as a whole.
Our Family Support Services brings together the needs of the community we serve with our vision of providing the tools and resources families need to be successful.
Our training programs are at the forefront of addressing workforce inequities. They are a crucial component of strengthening families and promoting family stability.
Centro is a 501(c)3 organization located in Dane County, Wisconsin.
Our mission is Empowering Youth, Strengthening Families, Engaging the Community.
We envision that Dane County will be a community where Latino families can aspire upward, to reach their personal goals and dreams because they feel engaged and strengthened with the tools for success.
