On Tuesday, April 26, Rev. Kelly Brown and Rev. Dr. David Rangel, Executive Minister at Custard Road UMC, Dallas, TX, will have a conversation about growing transformational leaders who impact the local church and their communities. Their discussion will reference Rev. Brown's books Church Ecology:Creating a Leadership Pathway for Your Church and Equipping Lay Venture Leaders. Both books can be found on Amazon or Market Square.

  • Rev. Kelly Brown, DS, will be introducing the new simplified governance model for Three Rivers District leadership.
  • In addition to the annual business of the district including the approval of the 2023 budget, we will be enjoying a time of worship and fellowship.
  • We will recognize our retiree, Rev. Karen Oehl as well as the many men and women who are observing anniversaries for their years in ministry.
  • The Lay Servant Committee will announce the Lay Servant of the Year as well as the Clergy-person of the Year.
  • The offering will be made in memory of the Rev. Dr. Steven Sullivan and Pastor Lyle Warren to the Teach ~ Reach ~ Bless Campaign. Make checks payable to the "Three Rivers District" with a memo of "TRB Fund 9915"

Celebrate Native American Ministries Sunday May 1

Churches, clergy, and laity are encouraged to make time during services on May 1 to honor, celebrate and reflect on the contributions of Native Americans in society. This special offering is used to develop and strengthen Native American ministries in UMC annual conferences. This includes ministries that impacts Native and Indigenous peoples in rural, urban, reservation ministries and East Ohio communities. All in God’s Image: A Study in the History of Indigenous Peoples
To help celebrate Native American Ministries Sunday, the Multicultural Ministries office invites you to download and read the third and final installment of our All in God’s Image: A Study in the History of Indigenous Peoples family guide designed to teach families and church congregations about Native American Ministries Sunday.

Youth Annual Conference
June 17-19

Youth Annual Conference returns to meeting in-person this year on the campus of Walsh University in North Canton. This year’s theme is Relentless and the featured speaker is the Rev. Dr. Stephanie Moore Hand. 321 Improv and Sarah Reeves will be the guest artists, and Mahoning Valley District Superintendent, the Rev. Abby Auman, will be our Sunday worship speaker.

YPM Leaders Book Club
Youth leaders and pastors please join us April 28 or April 29 for our monthly book club. This month’s book is 3 Big Questions that Change Every Teenager: Making the Most of Your Conversations and Connections by Kara Powell and Brad M. Griffin. Please join us for the discussion even if you haven’t read the book.

Missions 5K Run/1-Mile Walk
June 9 at Annual Conference
Raise money, exercise, and fellowship – all at the same time! Register to participate in the 5K Run/1-Mile Walk on the towpath in Akron. The run/walk will start at Lock 3 on Thursday, June 9 at 6:00 p.m., following the first day of Annual Conference. If you can’t join in the run/walk, sponsor someone who will. Suggested donation is $25. Learn more. Register here
Midwest Mission Collection Truck at AC
MMDC will be onsite during this year’s Annual Conference at the John S. Knight Center in Akron. The collection truck will be at the indoor loading dock on NE corner of building. Thursday and Friday from 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 7:30 a.m.-9:00 a.m.

ITEMS MOST NEEDED ARE:
➔ liquid laundry soap, no larger than 150 oz.
➔ dish soap, no larger than 64 oz.
➔ liquid household cleaner, no larger than 80 oz.
➔ five-gallon buckets with lids

PLEASE DO NOT BRING CASH OR CHECKS TO THE COLLECTION SITE.

Registration closes on Friday, May 13.
  • all registrations will be done online,
  • each person registering must have their own unique e-mail address, and
  • there will be no registrations after May 13, including no onsite registrations.

E-Mail & Communications
Each clergy and lay member to AC must use a unique email (one not shared by anyone else at AC). If you need help creating a free e-mail address contact the district office.

Voting
Voters must be physically inside the voting area at the John S. Knight Center to vote. This year we will use hand-held voting devices that will be distributed onsite to those who registered by Friday, May 13.

Masks
If you are sick, please stay home. Wearing a mask during Annual Conference is currently optional. Please honor and respect the decisions of your colleagues.

Annual Conference Offering
The Annual Conference 2022 offering (Fund 9214) will be collected during the afternoon business session on Thursday, June 9. This year’s offering will support:
  • EOC Fund 1301 Supporting UMCOR International Relief
  • Nehemiah Mission of Cleveland
  • Bishop’s Discretionary Fund
You may also donate online or via mail to Fund 9214 to support the AC 2022 offering.

Clergy Directory
A company will be on hand to take clergy photos for the 2022 EOC Clergy Directory. These photos will be used as your 'official' photo for all announcements and publications pertaining to the East Ohio Conference. Dress accordingly.

Hotel Accommodations
The Conference has secured blocks of rooms at several hotels at a discounted "EOC rate" for those seeking housing during Annual Conference. The hotel reservation links for the participating hotels are posted on the Annual Conference 2022 website.
