The final edition of our three part "Feedback Series" focuses on what to do with your feedback. You've learned how to give feedback, how to receive feedback well, and now we will help you implement the feedback to help you improve!

First, like any goal, your feedback action plan (or development plan) must be SMART, with a couple adjustments for behavioral-based actions versus quantitatively measurable actions. Second, follow the easy step-by-step guidelines for observable improvement!

Apply the FIVE!
Think of a piece of feedback you've received in the last year that has compelled you to want to improve. Pick one area in your professional career where the feedback applies, and develop a practice plan related to your desired improvement and the feedback received.

Can't think of a recent piece of feedback? Then pick any piece of feedback you've received previously and, in retrospect, evaluate how you responded to the feedback. Did you develop a plan? Did you dismiss it? Could you have been more effective in your improvement? Would a practice plan and a SMART goal have helped you? Use this self-evaluation to help you implement an action plan for future feedback that you receive.
Until Next Time...
