THE SHAKING
There have been many prophetic words given for a long time that a major shaking was coming. Scripture speaks of this in Isaiah 2:19 which says, “And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.”
Isaiah 13:13 says, “Therefore I shall shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.” Other scriptures that speak of the shaking coming are Ezekiel 31:16; Joel 3:16; Haggai 2:7; Matthew 24:29; Mark 13:25; Revelation 6:13 and there are others also.
So what does it mean to be “shaken?” The New Testament Greek word for shaken means to tremor like an earthquake, to topple, to disturb. This lets us know that the shaking will cause things to be disturbed and topple, including governments, people, businesses, and lives. Why is God doing this? In each of our own lives, the shaking will bring to the surface those things that he is displeased with. Displeased? Yes, sin can be those little things, but also big things.
Earthquakes have intensified globally, and many people have lost their lives in this physical shaking. I have seen in the spirit that multiple earthquakes will happen at the same time, bringing with them a shaking that will be so great that people will try to hide in caves, [Isaiah 2:19; Revelation 9:6] but it will not keep them safe if they aren’t walking right with the Lord.
We must remember that the purpose of the shaking is to bring repentance to individual Christians, the church, then to the world [the ones not saved] before judgment comes. Repentance is not just for the big sins like murder, idolatry, sexual sin; but for those little sins, like neglect, bitterness, anger, etc. that keep us in bondage.
Jesus is coming back for a bride without spot or blemish. Think of “the shaking” like this. A wedding dress has been purchased, but has become wrinkled, and dusty waiting for the wedding day. One would take that dress and shake out the wrinkles, so it becomes beautiful again, and the dust is gone. That is what God is doing to us individually with the shaking. We should not resist the shaking because it is necessary for each of us to be “spotless” and without “wrinkle.”
The shaking in the natural realm with earthquakes, tsunamis, and other things like fire will intensify. Don’t be caught off guard. The scriptures above warned us of this coming thousands of years ago. We must always be ready, purifying ourselves through repentance, prayer, and holy, set apart living. We cannot stop the shaking, but prayer can soften it. Don’t be caught off guard when it happens, because it is going to come.
