HOW FAITH COMES

Over the years I have heard people often say, “I wish I had your faith.” Now that reveals a lot about the person speaking. It has shown me where they make their mistake. They have put their trust in someone else’s faith instead of developing their own faith.
First, we do not get faith by wishing. We do not get faith just through prayer. We do not inherit faith from our parents, although setting a good example is important.
How does faith come? We must turn to the scriptures for our answer. In Romans 10:17 it says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
We grow in faith through “hearing” the word of God. Our spirits receive the word of God, and it grows inside of us. We can receive it through hearing the preached word, or we can receive it by reading the word out loud to ourselves. Either way, when the word is heard, faith will come.
So often, people depend upon someone else’s faith to receive what they need. I have had countless phone calls, texts, and in person visits from people that want me to pray for them. I am not opposed to doing this, but there comes a time when one must grow their own faith.
How much time do you spend reading the Word of God? Your faith will not grow without hearing the Word. How much time do you listen to the Word of God preached by anointed men and women that have paid the price for their faith to be strong?
The more Word in, the more faith is released. Do not settle for secondhand faith when God wants to give you the best firsthand faith one on one.
