A JUST WEIGHT
Proverbs 16:11 says, “A just weight and balance are the LORD’S: all the weights of the bag are his work.”
What this means is that God sets the measurements for everything. In bible days they had stone weights that would be used to determine if something was the correct weight or not. It was the standard of measurement. Nothing more or nothing less.
God sets the standards and we either comply to his standards, or we choose our own standards. Humanism sets standards by man’s logic, rather than by God’s standards. God’s standards never are off because he never changes. Man’s standards change as he changes, so what was right yesterday is no longer right today.
God gives us his standards (or just weights) through his word, the bible. Revelation 22:18-19 gives us a warning. It speaks of the prophecy given and says, “28 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book. 29 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”
That is a very strong warning not to add or take away from what God has said. We may think a way is right but if God says it is wrong, we must choose to go God’s way, or reap the results of our own foolish choices. Proverbs 14:12 and 16: 25 both say the same thing, “There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
God’s Word is a just weight. It always measures up. His way is always the right way.
