A LABOR SHORTAGE
Matthew 9:35-38 tells of Jesus’ ministry in Galilee. He went to all the cities and small villages preaching the kingdom of heaven and healing all manner of sickness and disease.
As he saw multitudes of people, he was moved with compassion because he saw them as sheep without a shepherd, lost and aimless. He addressed this situation to his disciples.
Jesus said in verses 37-38, “The harvest (for souls) is plenteous, but the laborers (soul winners) are few. Pray ye therefore (that) the Lord of the harvest…will send forth laborers into his harvest.”
God has billions of souls that need to hear the gospel. Souls will be lost to hell if nobody shares the gospel with them. Sadly, most professing Christians have never led one single soul to Christ…ever! The majority have never even shared the plan of salvation once in their life.
How will people hear the gospel if we never speak it to the world, friends, neighbors, or strangers in Walmart? God gave us a tongue for reason. We should use it to glorify Jesus. “Small talk” does no eternal good for them.
The least you could do is let people know what Jesus means personally to you, at least that plants a seed that can be watered. But what we really need are harvesters. Those are the ones whose passion is to witness for the planned purpose of leading them to salvation. That is the greatest shortcoming in the church. If you don’t feel you can do it, then at last support the few who do…in prayer and in giving.
Then ask Holy Spirit Himself to teach you.
