UNDIVIDED
When you look in the scriptures where Israel was at war with any enemy, victory came when Israel stood together, undivided, against their enemy. When they put God first and repented of their sin, then they would win battles. Things went downhill quickly when Israel united with pagan gods that turned their nation from God. It brought their nation into captivity, even those that were righteous were taken. Why? Because judgment came on the entire nation. Prophets preached repentance, but the nation’s leaders did not turn back to God.
In Mark 3:25 it says, “And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.” This can be true in a nation, a city, a marriage, a business, or anything else where two people covenant but are in opposition to each other. It won’t work!
I must stress that there are so many people, even Christians, that have gotten themselves involved with relationships that aren’t from God. The attraction is there, but there is no “glue” of unity to keep the relationship undivided. It just won’t last!
I remember a friend that was in management in the same company as myself. There were many events that we attended as managers, and there was someone at a meeting that she met. They became a long- distance couple, and it grew into a relationship and marriage. AFTER she got married, she learned that this man was a Jehovah’s Witness. She was absolutely shocked when she found this out, and the marriage failed because they were divided over spiritual issues. You can’t join dark with light. It just won’t work. Why did this happen in the first place? Why didn’t she ask the most important questions before allowing this tragedy in her life? Sadly, we often are led by our emotions instead of being led by the spirit.
Before Russell and I ever met, we had both lost our spouses through death. We met on a Christian dating sight (I do not recommend this). Before we met in person, we discussed everything that would be important. I learned that he got saved at 6, and that he went to the same kind of Church that I pastored. I knew everything that I needed to know that God was in this relationship. I would not settle for someone that wasn’t a spirit-filled Christian like myself. When we married, we became united, undivided, together in marriage and ministry and we still are undivided. Are there ever issues? Yes, but because God is in the relationship they get worked out.
I truly believe that our nation is in a divided state, and unless the Christians come together and bring it back to God it doesn’t have a chance. I know judgment has been on our country and the world too for that fact. The choices made will determine the future.
We know that in the end times according to scripture there will be a dividing of the sheep and goats. It doesn’t take much to see that this is happening. We just need to make sure we are in the sheepfold, and not outside of it. If everyone did their part, we could be an undivided church, nation, and world, but I don’t see that coming with the division in the world.
Will it change? I believe it will in the millennium when Jesus will reign, but not before. I am looking forward to that day, and I hope that you are too.
