Tourism Town Halls Kick Off in Saskatchewan

The 2023 Tourism Town Halls, powered by the Tourism Industry Association of Canada, kicked off at the Saskatoon Inn and Conference Centre last week; attended by more than 60 business leaders who came to meet with TIAC and its partners, including the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC), Destination Canada, Hospitality Saskatchewan and Tourism Saskatchewan. Sponsored by ITAC, Tourism HR Canada, Air Canada and WestJet, the Town Halls are continuing across Canada from now through April as TIAC hits the road to deliver these day-long events in every province and territory. Each Town Hall features best-practice sessions in the morning, followed by a complimentary lunch and afternoon Town Hall session. A networking reception concludes the day and recordings will be made available after each event. Check out the next Town Hall near you!

The Minister’s roundtable on Parks Canada focused on five main themes: Indigenous stewardship, ecological corridors, Parks Canada's role in tourism, strengthening accessibility; and greening operations. During the session, TIAC provided its key recommendations on how the sector and Parks Canada can work together to advance its shared priorities.

TIAC Sends Submission to IRCC

Earlier this month, TIAC prepared a written submission to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada on its Consultation on Enhancing Express Entry Through Category-based Selection to Better Meet Canada’s Evolving Economic Needs.

Request for Proposal

TIAC is seeking proposals for a report that outlines the critical impact of the visitor economy on the local, regional, and national economies of Canada and the importance of Visitor-Based Assessments (VBAs) in continuing to grow the positive economic impact of the visitor economy. The goal of this project is to develop a pre-advocacy plan with key messages and tactics that will assist destination-management organizations in creating an advocacy platform that will ensure the continued investment of VBAs in destination sales and marketing.

TIAC encourages interested firms to review the requirements as indicated in the Request for Proposal (RFP) and send in their submission by the deadline of Feb. 10.
