Canadian Industry for Ukraine

Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) is launching a a single point-of-entry for Canadian businesses wishing to support the Government of Canada’s response to the crisis in Ukraine by making donations, offering employment, and more. Businesses can also provide offers of high-priority goods and services to support displaced Ukrainians, as well as the organisations providing aid and resettlement services.

Prime Minister announces new task force to improve services 

The Prime Minister recently announced the creation of a new task force to improve government services, with a focus on reducing wait times for Canadians.

The task force, a Committee of Cabinet ministers, will drive action to improve the processing of passports and immigration applications by identifying priority areas for action and outlining short- and longer-term solutions, with a focus on reducing wait times, clearing out backlogs, and improving the overall quality of services provided to Canadians.

As labour shortages continue to lead to air travel delays around the world, the task force will also monitor the situation at Canadian airports.

TIAC Welcomes New Ontario Minister of Tourism

Ontario Premier Doug Ford released the names of his new cabinet last week, as the PC government starts its second term in office. TIAC welcomes Neil Lumsden as the province's new Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sport. Minister Lumsden was elected for the first time in the Hamilton East—Stoney Creek riding in June and has had a successful career in the Canadian Football League; where he represented the Toronto Argonauts, Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Edmonton Eskimos.

2022 Canadian Tourism Awards   

The 2022 Canadian Tourism Award (CTA) nomination process is now open, accepting applications in nine categories.

The CTAs are presented annually by TIAC to recognize success, leadership, and innovation in Canada's tourism industry and have become the standard of excellence for businesses and organizations in the travel industry, showcasing the nation's best in tourism. 

The 2022 CTAs will take place this year on Nov. 23 during TIAC’s annual Tourism Congress (Nov. 22 and 23) at the Westin Ottawa. Award categories include Business of the Year; Small or Medium-Sized Business of the Year; Indigenous Tourism; Sustainable Tourism; Employee of the Year; Business Event; Tourism Employer of the Year; Innovator of the Year, and Travel Media Award.
