Greetings!

Today, TIAC brings your priorities to the House of Commons Finance Committee through our budget submission.

Built from member feedback, this submission speaks for you. We’re tackling what matters most to members: securing workers, investment, and visitors. We worked with provincial and territorial tourism industry associations to develop six high-impact recommendations to help tourism destinations and businesses grow.

Thank you to our

INDUSTRY PATRONS

Access to labour:

  1. Support year-round and flexible youth employment opportunities through the Canada Summer Jobs program.
  2. Address labour shortages through immigration as part of the Canadian International Workforce Program.

Access to capital:

  1. Reinvest taxes into businesses with a Capital Gains Reinvestment Deferral for tourism.

Help businesses deduct costs faster by including tourism assets in the Accelerated Capital Cost Allowance.

Access to Canada:

  1. Strengthen regional connectivity by expanding existing transportation infrastructure and essential air services.
  2. Increase Destination Canada’s international marketing budget for priority non-U.S. global markets.

Your work matters to Canada. No other industry is as well positioned to steer the country through the uncertainties of today toward a prosperous future.

Our recommendations remind government that tourism is vital to its ambitions: growing the economy, diversifying trade and exports, and building more resilient and connected communities. Every international visitor increases export revenue, and every event, tour, hotel stay, restaurant meal, and transport fare supports Canadian livelihoods and showcases our culture.

Smart policy changes and high-return investments can stimulate demand and help tourism businesses grow. With greater access to workers, investment, and markets, our members––and Canada’s economy––can prosper.

Please read the full submission on our website and amplify it across your networks.
