A Message from the President & CEO
As we move into the summer, we are all looking for a little normalcy in these turbulent times. TIAC continues to work hard to represent the entire tourism sector to government, and remind them that, despite good weather and a shift to slowly reopening our local economies, tourism businesses are feeling the strain more than ever, with no return to normal operations in sight. Please be assured that we are not slowing down. TIAC continues to represent your interests with government officials and decision-makers throughout this crisis.

The return of our TIAC Talk newsletter aims to keep you apprised of developments in the industry – present and future. For COVID-19 specific content, we hope you are also keeping up with our twice weekly update on our advocacy work, government announcements, and resources to help your business navigate these troubling times. If you are not subscribed to our newsletter,  you can do so here

Please stay safe and let us know what more we can do to help.

Sincerely,

Charlotte Bell
President & CEO
Tourism Industry Association of Canada
Yet, Another Survey!
Our sector has been inundated with multiple survey requests and TIAC understands that many of you are either busy reopening your businesses or planning for the future. We appreciate that filling out “yet another survey” can be time-consuming, however please know that our sector is fighting for the attention of Ministers and policy-makers in a sea of other industries and lobbyists.

Survey closes Tuesday, July 14 at midnight.

BY THE NUMBERS
A look at COVID-19 Impacts on International Visitation
Just before the COVID-19 virus was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization, Canada was celebrating a milestone achievement with 22.1M international arrivals to Canada in 2019. By all measures, Canada was set to have another record-breaking year in 2020. However, our industry now faces an unprecedented downturn in international arrivals as a result of COVID-19 travel restrictions.
