Tourism Industry Association of Canada Welcomes New President and CEO of Destination Canada
OTTAWA, ON August 18th, 2020 - On behalf of the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) our Board of Directors and members, we thank the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages, and the Government of Canada on their appointment of Ms. Marsha Walden as President and CEO of Destination Canada, Canada's national tourism marketing agency.

We wish to extend our sincere congratulations to Ms. Marsha Walden on her appointment as President and CEO of Destination Canada, and look forward to enhancing the already collaborative and strategic relationship between TIAC and Destination Canada.

"As President and CEO of the Tourism Industry Association of Canada, I am delighted to welcome Marsha in her new role as President and CEO of Destination Canada.  Through the years, TIAC has had a very collaborative relationship with Ms. Walden in her previous role. We look forward to working with her in the coming months and years as we all look forward to making Canada an increasingly competitive tourism market. Best wishes to Marsha as she embarks in this important role and we are excited to work together with her and the entire Destination Canada team. TIAC has been active in engaging the Government of Canada on advancing the tourism sector by advocating to reduce competitive barriers for Canada's $105B travel and tourism sector including advocating for a long-term, sustainable and competitive budget for marketing Canada to the world. TIAC is an active partner with Destination Canada to support landmark industry events, such as Rendez-vous Canada and GoMedia Canada. 

TIAC looks forward to working with Ms. Walden in supporting Destination Canada efforts in rebuilding our tourism industry during the COVID-19 recovery.
