TIC Teen Civil Rights Trip

March 7-9, 2027

Join Rabbi Bender and Associate Director of Youth and Teen Engagement Jasmine Buzzella for an educational, empowering civil rights journey. The trip will be led by expert guides from Etgar36. Teens will walk in the steps of civil rights leaders and have the opportunity to meet and learn from them, including leaders who worked and marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. They will visit sites such as the Equal Justice Initiative’s Museum and Sculpture Garden, the Rosa Parks Memorial and the Edmund Pettus Bridge and explore Jewish involvement in the civil rights movement. Our teens will see how the struggle for civil rights continues today and intersects with their own lives.

Travel Details: Departing from Westchester County Airport (HPN) to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) at 6:00 am on March 7th. Returning from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to Westchester County Airport (HPN) March 9th, with an expected arrival time of 9:36 pm.

Cost: The cost of the trip will be $1,916 per participant.

Information Sessions

Shabbat, September 19 at 12:50 pm in person

Join Rabbi Bender and Associate Director of Youth and Teen Engagement Jasmine Buzella to learn more about our upcoming Teen Civil Rights Trip. This will take place on September 19th at 12:50 PM in the Lower Level Conference Room, following kiddush. We will hear from teens who previously went on the trip and Rabbi Bender and Jasmine will answer questions about the trip and its logistics. 

The info session concludes with TIC's own Jerry Goldman and Bethel Baptist's Tom Bouyer in conversation with Rabbi Bender about their involvement in the Civil Rights movement. Afterward, teens can head over to the Teen Lounge for sundaes with Jasmine. Rabbi Bender will be available to answer additional questions from parents.
