The Lunar New Year is celebrated across many cultures - China, Korea, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, and beyond - and while traditions vary, the symbolism is universal:

Renewal. Transformation. Forward momentum.

We’re stepping into the Year of the Fire Horse...a symbol of energy, courage, independence, and bold movement.

But before the horse comes the transition.

2025 was the Year of the Snake, a year associated with shedding skin, releasing what no longer fits, and quiet transformation beneath the surface.

And honestly?

That feels right.

Because across our industry and our world there’s been a lot of shedding.

Old assumptions.

Old structures.

Old ways of thinking about talent, leadership, and opportunity.

And now we move forward.

Not cautiously.

Powerfully.

DEI isn’t about checking boxes. It’s about evolution. It’s about recognizing that systems built decades ago don’t always serve the future we’re trying to create.

The best investors understand this instinctively. Because investing itself is about change:

Seeing what others don’t yet see.

Backing potential before consensus forms.

Positioning ahead of the curve.

In many ways, DEI is simply the next stage of market maturity.

More perspectives → better decision-making.

More access → more opportunity discovery.

More inclusion → stronger ecosystems.

TIDE Foundation: A Quick Refresher & How To Get Involved

We’re often surprised to learn that some members of our community are still discovering the TIDE Foundation, so we thought this was the perfect opportunity to share a bit more about who we are and what we do.

For those who may not know, the TIDE Foundation is the nonprofit arm of TIDE and a registered 501(c)(3) organization. Our mission is to support the next generation of investment professionals by expanding access to education, mentorship, and meaningful career pathways for young people interested in finance.

Our flagship initiative: Future Leaders Programme

Our primary initiative is the Future Leaders Programme, which has previously partnered with organizations such as UTIMCO Scholars and the UC Investments Academy. Through these partnerships, we sponsor students to attend the TIDE SPARK Conference at no cost.

During the two days of TIDE SPARK, students participate in dedicated programming tailored specifically for them. This includes a strong foundational overview of institutional investments, with particular emphasis on the key asset classes within alternative investments.

How can you get involved?

There are several ways to support the TIDE Foundation’s work:

• Sponsorship opportunities for the Foundation are available.
• We are also seeking a volunteer to lead a private equity financial modeling course for students during TIDE SPARK on July 8, 2026. This would be a voluntary opportunity to give back by sharing expertise and helping students build practical skills.
