During the CFA Institute Thrive conference, one of the question was:
What are the contributing factors for the lack of overall progress in DEI?
My Answer: DEI is like Climate Change 🌧️
• It’s polarizing
• Some believe in it and some don’t
• There is data that shows diverse teams do better. There is data that shows climate is changing.
Yet even with data, DEI within our industry isn’t progressing fast enough.
So we can’t depend on data alone to improve DEI.
One approach that works for TIDE is how we communicate the benefits of DEI and how we curate a vibe that is conducive to building long term relationships.
It’s not only about what you say but how you say it.
Nobody wants to be told what to do…
Ps. What are your thoughts on why there is a lack of progress in DEI?
