Volume 69 - No. 9 | SEPTEMBER 2017
A Word from Pastor Valeria
It has been an eventful summer for me, and for Trinity Church! We installed our projector and screen in the Sanctuary, we have a new website ( https://www.trinitynorthborough.org ), I have a weekly blog on said website, and we hired a Director for Christian Education for Children and Youth, Sherry Clark.
Many thanks to everyone who was instrumental in making all of this happen.
I hope you had a good summer as well, whether eventful, relaxing, or both.
We look forward to seeing you back in church! You don't want to miss all the exiting opportunities we will offer for you to connect to others in the church and in the community, and to grow in your faith together with them.
We will offer opportunities for outreach, service, leadership, musical involvement, discussion, worship, and learning.
And we will work on implementing our vision of becoming a welcoming and safe place for ALL people, led by God's Spirit and guided by our mission to fill people with the love of God and share God's love in all the world.
May God bless Trinity Church as we embark on this exiting adventure together!

With joy and gratitude,
Pastor Valeria

Christian Ed News ~
Faith Foundations Note

Hi Everyone! I am so excited to have been picked to be the Director of Youth Formation! I have been working with children and teens for the past 23 years either as an educator, a social worker or a Girl Scout leader. I love working with all ages and enjoy both the rewards and challenges that come with those different ages. I am a wife and mother to three kids ages 16, 11 and 6. We also have 3 furry friends, two dogs Vader and Cami and a cat Leia. Can you tell our family is a bit Star Wars obsessed? ;-) In my spare time I enjoy gardening, traveling, being outdoors and leading my scout troops. I believe life was meant to be an adventure and so I am always looking for the next fun thing to try or next adventure to go on. I am really looking forward to getting to know all of you!

In terms of the Christian Education program this year we have renamed it Faith Foundations in the hope that it will give the kids a great foundation to build on as they grow older and as they grow into young adults and beyond. I am hoping to bring a lot of fun ideas into the program and enable the kids to really dig into the text by doing a lot of hands on activities as well as reflection on how each bible verse relates to things that are going on in their lives today. With that said I need your help. We need at least 3 volunteers each week to run the programming. As a busy parent myself I know it can be hard to volunteer your time so I want to make it as easy as possible for you. Each week I will have the entire program prepped and ready to go. Your responsibility will just be to be here, look over the plan a couple days in advance, teach/do the lesson with the kids and then a quick pick up!

Lastly, I am all about feedback! Please use these next two links to 1) fill out a quick 5 question survey about your Faith Foundation expectations and 2) sign up to volunteer to teach (I would love if we had some consistency month to month for the kids of the same people taking the same slot for a month at a time...but this is not a requirement).

I will be doing a quick meet up with the kids as well during coffee hour on the 10th to get their feedback. Attached to this newsletter will also be the registration form for signing your child up. Please feel free to reach out to me at anytime trinitycenorthboro@gmail.com

I look forward to meeting all of you!
Sherry Clark

LGBT Asylum Gala!

The LGBT Asylum Task Force is a group in Worcester which provides support to people seeking asylum in the US due to repression, threats and fear of harm and/or death in their home countries, due to their sexual orientation. They provide each asylum seeker with a place to live, a monthly stipend, health and psychological care, spiritual support, access to an attorney and transportation.

The men and women who seek them out are extraordinarily brave. They leave their countries and everything familiar behind in order to seek a life in a country where they can be their true selves. Their stories are heart wrenching and each one comes to us with their own individual path of courage.

They are extremely devoted to their work and strive to provide them with a better life. They do not turn anyone away. But supporting them is a very expensive proposition. They receive most of their funding from a few foundations and the generous support of individuals and many churches. On Saturday, October 21, they will hold their first Gala at the Beechwood Hotel in Worcester, where they will celebrate the asylum seekers and the people who have helped them, eat great food, and dance the night away!
Dale LePage and the Manhattans will be the entertainment that night, with their wonderful unique style of music.

The LGBT Asylum Task Force is asking churches and individuals to sponsor one or more asylum seeker(s) for $75 a person, so they can attend this special event, or purchase your own ticket for $75 per person. Two seats are still available at Trinity's table! Please contact Monica Osborn, Chair of Trinity's ONA Ministry Team for more information, monica.osborn16@charter.net.

A Note from Trinity's Administrative Assistant (Colleen)
Dear Trinity Church Members and Friends,

It is with a heavy heart and mixed emotions that I have given my notice as Administrative Assistant here at Trinity Church. My last day will be September 22, 2017.

Throughout my 19 years at Trinity Church I have met many wonderful people - from our congregation folk, our ABC / UCC partners, to the many community groups that use the church. I will cherish the connections I have made throughout these years and wish each of you continued blessings!

If you're in the neighborhood, please stop in the office. Would love to see you before I depart.

Best Regards,

Colleen Macedo
