Connect with Brian Wyman at IGA

TIG Partner and EVP Brian Wyman is headed to Anaheim for the Indian Gaming Tradeshow & Convention (IGA) in just a few short weeks. In addition to leading the firm’s Las Vegas office as well as its iGaming and sports wagering practice, Brian’s specialty is helping clients develop creative and innovation ways to improve financial performance through data. His recent work in tribal country highlights the depth and breadth of his experience:

  • Sports Betting Business & Strategy Planning for Treasure Island Casino, Prairie Island Indian Community
  • Casino and Resort Operations Review for Four Winds Casino, Pokagon Band of Potawatomi
  • Gaming Market Assessment, Highest and Best Use Study, and Amenity Assessment for Desert Diamond Casino expansion and new Far West Valley facility, Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise

Brian has led iGaming market analysis and planning for multiple tribal clients across 12+ states, and provided general business support -- assistance with GM searches, wage and benefits studies, margin analysis and related recommendations -- to multiple confidential tribal clients.

“Relationships in tribal gaming feel far more personal and far less transactional than in many other areas of business,” says Brian. “Tribal gaming in many places feels like a family business, and I love the authentic interactions and bonds built.”

To that end, one of the things Brian most looks forward to at IGA is the scale of the show. “Everyone is there, but somehow it feels incredibly intimate,” he says. “Unlike the whirlwind intensity of some events, IGA manages to feel relaxed, with ample time to spend with everyone.” Some of the issues he’s following closely right now include iGaming legislation, California sports betting, gaming in Texas, and the increasing desire of tribal operators to build large-scale, non-gaming amenities. Set up a meeting with Brian on-site to discuss these and other topics, and how TIG can support your business objectives.

TIG's Updated Tribal Gaming Internship Program

For more than 30 years, The Innovation Group (TIG) has proudly served the Native American community, always seeking new ways to support tribes in reaching their broader development goals. Our Tribal Gaming Internship Program is an extension of that ambition, created to support individuals pursuing professional careers in tribal gaming by offering them the opportunity to participate in comprehensive studies -- involving expansion feasibility, economic development, and database analysis -- as paid interns side-by-side with the TIG project team. In addition to offering interns valuable insights to bring back to their careers and operations, the program also invigorates TIG’s work by adding direct tribal client perspective to the process.

"The Innovation Group’s internship program is unique in execution and meaningful to a variety of positions. Personally, I have to give special thanks to Tom Zitt, who generously shared valuable knowledge, broadened my understanding in gaming market analysis and key performance indicators, and explained many important do’s and don’ts in gaming industry analyses."

How does it work?

When The Innovation Group engages in a study with a Native American Indian Tribe or First Nation, tribal leadership have the opportunity to recommended potential interns. Eligible candidates must either be enrolled members who are pursuing or already hold an undergraduate or graduate degree in finance, business or related fields; or current staff serving tribal government or property operations. Interns will work approximately half-time and be compensated on an hourly basis. Interns will leave the project with new experience, insights, and tangible skills to take back to their tribes, operations, and careers. More detailed information about the program is available here, or contact TIG President Michael Soll.
