TILDA's New Collection - Songbird

Available for ADVANCE PREORDER Monday, December 15th !

Fabric in Store and Patterns released February 1st, 2026

Travel to Venice inspired the Songbird collection, with its references to the Art Nouveau style. The hand-drawn patterns of Songbird are just a sweet nod to the more elaborate designs of Art Nouveau, recreating the feel and look in a lighter, simpler way. The colour palette has a light dusty pastel feel which tones down the busy patterns and gives the collection a soft watercolour-like effect. This is a collection for those who love light and delicate and is perfect for spring and summer, which arrives sometime after February in Canada!

You know you want to take a peek -- so sneak out from behind the pillows and immerse yourself in dreams of Tilda's Songbird and its soft fresh colours of spring.

When thinking about the Art Nouveau period in history, the designer says her mind "goes to soirees, with ladies in lovely dresses amid columned gardens surrounded by dragonflies and butterflies", inspiring the patterns being released with the collection.

You may recall The Mosaic Butterfly Quilt from 2020 and adore the new Garden View and Soiree reveals. .

From your beloved Editor ....

Having exhausted the topic of reindeer/caribou, l will return to imparting knowledge nuggets on you, our esteemed readers. This week's term is "birthing".

Birthing refers to the overall process of bringing a new quilt into existence - bringing it to life so-to-speak. The process is lengthy, exhausting, excruciatingly painful at times, may leave the quilter questioning "why?" or saying "no more quilts - I'll just get a cat". And like that other birthing thing, no one will tell you your new quilt is ugly. The use of birthing with regards to quilting may be more common in the Maritime provinces. Within certain communities it would not be uncommon to hear someone say "hello for birthing she was some quilter!" or "Sheila birthed a quilt last Tuesday - that's three this month. She's worn right out, the poor thing".

Any other questions Mary?
