SHABAN 1447 | FEBRUARY 2026

Shaban holds special significance as a month of spiritual preparation leading into Ramadan. Our Prophet (s) increased his fasting during Shaban, emphasizing it as a time when deeds are raised to Allah. It is an opportunity to renew intentions, seek forgiveness, strengthen acts of worship, and build consistency in prayer, fasting, and Qur’an recitation. By using Shaban to realign the heart and habits, believers can enter Ramadan spiritually focused, disciplined, and ready to make the most of its blessings.

Charity (Sadaqah) in Islam purifies wealth and brings blessings to both the giver and the recipient. It is a means of helping those in need while earning Allah’s pleasure and mercy.

Dr. Iqbal Unus recently announced that Sh. Dr. Tamara Gray has been tapped for TISA's 2026 graduation scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2025, at 10 AM at the Davidson-Gundy Alumni Center at The University of Texas at Dallas in Richardson. "Dr. Gray has been an integral part of the success of TISA from its inception," stated Dr. Unus. "She helped develop TISA's unique comprehensive curriculum, taught many classes, and served as an inaugural member of TISA's Academic Council," he stated further. Currently, Prof. Gray is leading an effort to establish Rabata University as a US-based, accredited institution for women. Additionally, she co-directs (with TISA Prof. Jimmy Jones) the groundbreaking Center for Ethical and Effective Organizational Leadership (CEEOL), which educates community members who might not be interested in TISA's graduate studies. CEEOL is a joint project of TISA and Rabata.

Our students and staff volunteered at our booth during two recent events with our Dean, Dr. Yasir Qadhi, “A Dialogue for Fostering Better Understanding” at the Islamic Association of Lewisville and Flower Mound, TX, and “Salahuddin’s Dream” in Phoenix, AZ. These moments reflect meaningful conversations, shared learning, and a collective commitment to leadership, faith, and community building.
