Issue 20, 2017/2018 Season | February 13, 2018
Titus Andronicus is in rehearsals
And the hits keep coming...quite literally! Titus Andronicus provides a lot for fight choreographers to work with. Not to give too much away, but Fight Choreographer Nate Bitton and the team of actors working on this production are creating one-on-one fights, large scale group battles and finding ways to depict some truly gruesome stuff. They have fun doing it, though, as this video represents. Titus Andronicus takes the stage for a limited run: March 2-10, 2018. More here >>
And the winners are....
Last week, Hart House Theatre and the Drama Coalition presented the creative work of students through the 26th annual U of T Drama Festival. Adjudicated by theatre practitioner and U of T professor, Jill Carter, the festival culminated in an awards ceremony which celebrated the efforts and accomplishments of performers, directors, playwrights and production teams. Play Writing workshop with Cliff Cardinal
This workshop will focus on helping participants to develop the dramatic idea by gaining a sense of how writing for live performance is different from other types of creative writing. Combining formal lecture, reading and analysis of example plays, in-class creative writing exercises, and workshopping of participants' writing, we'll explore dramatic situation, conflict, character, dialogue, and plot, and share strategies for creating written work that can function as the basis for a performance by actors. Particular focus will be given to shorter forms like the 10 Minute Play and the One Act, as these commonly feature in contests and festivals for student and emerging playwrights, and are often used by more experienced writers to develop material and explore ideas for longer plays.

This 5-session class begins Monday, March 5. To register, click here >>
