Staff Appreciation Dinner
On  Wednesday, October 17, 2018 TJ's  PTO will host the first Staff Appreciation event of the year by providing dinner during Parent Teacher Conferences. Teachers will be busy that night meeting with families, so we will serve a hearty dinner of soup and chili from 4:30-6: 30pm to keep them going . There will be no hangry teachers on our watch!  Please make this dinner possible by signing up here . We can't do it without you!  If you would like to help out but are not available on the  17th , you are welcome to make an online donation.  We will use these funds to supplement whatever food is not donated.  Please  click here to make a donation  that goes directly to  TJ's  PTO and will be used for this dinner or future staff appreciation events.

Dropping Off Your Food Donations On Wednesday, October  17th , drop off your item in room 111  between 2:30-3: 00pm .  If your item does not need to be refrigerated or heated, you can drop it off in the main office kitchen on Tuesday after 3pm or on  Wednesday before 3pm . Soups, stews and chili should be delivered ready to serve in a  crockpot  fitted with a liner to help us with clean up. We have plenty of serving utensils so no need to bring any of your own.

The staff truly appreciates your support during this busy evening.  Thank you in advance for your generosity!

PTO News
The next PTO meeting is this week on Tuesday, October 9th from 6-7pm at TJ in room 111.
This month's meeting will focus on ArtFest 2018. This is a HUGE community building and fundraising event where over 80 artisans and local community groups are represented. All the funds raised go towards classroom grants.
ArtFest 2018, held on December 8th, will be the 30th anniversary of this event! To make this year extra special, we need lots of support from TJ parents. Most of the major committee chairs are filled but we need more help. Come to the meeting to find out how you can contribute to this time-honored TJ tradition. Can't make the meeting? Send an email to TJHSpto@gmail.com to learn more about ArtFest.
PTO meetings are the second Tuesday of the month so mark your calendars for the rest of the year. Together we are a Spartan Strong community!

Transitioning into Life After High School
This is the season when high school seniors and their parents are entrenched in the process of completing college applications. And while this process is undeniably an important gateway to the next phase of life for our young people, it is also important for parents and students alike to realize that this decision is more about taking a step towards an independent life. Whether your student ends up at a 4 year college, community college, takes a gap year, or gets a job, there are a number of life skills that are important to reinforce as they move towards successful independent living.

Hear ye, hear ye! As the following month rapidly approaches, TJ Theatre students are working long, diligent hours to perfect this year's musical comedy,  Spamalot , inspired by the 1975 film,  Monty Python and the Holy Grail . This farcical take on the medieval tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round table incorporates modern elements and humor along their quest for the Holy Grail. The show will debut on November 8th, 9th, and 10th at 7:00 p.m.. Digital tickets can be purchased online via MySchoolBucks and are currently priced at $5 for students and $10 for non-students. Paper tickets will also be sold in the next few weeks. Due to the mature comedic themes prevalent in this show, children under the age of 10 will not be admitted. From its humorous audience participation to its incredible set-design, this musical truly incorporates all elements to maximize the overall experience as an audience member.
