Mission Accomplished: BKV Group Reimagines Historic Fort Snelling Buildings As Affordable Housing

After being largely vacant and in disrepair for decades, the historic Fort Snelling Upper Post, a former military housing site along the banks of the Snell River in St. Paul, Minn., is now a thriving and eminently stylish affordable housing community, with preference given to veterans, thanks to an extensive redesign by Taylor Johnson client BKV Group. The $160 million project, now known as Upper Post Flats, repurposed 26 existing structures – including barracks, an administration building, gymnasium, morgue and hospital – into 192 apartments and an array of indoor and outdoor amenities. TJ issued a press release and pitched local and national media on the unique redevelopment, resulting in a feature in Mpls.St.Paul Magazine, along with additional coverage in Finance & Commerce, REBusinessOnline, REjournals and Yield PRO.
