Serving the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson Counties
TJHD BRIEFING: This week the district is at a 7.3% 7-day COVID-19 positivity rate which is lower than the Commonwealth's rate of 7.8%. However, with some TJHD localities having higher positivity rates, TJHD reminds everyone to be extra cautious this Labor Day Weekend and to practice healthy habits that will prevent a COVID-19 surge. People are encouraged to download the COVIDWISE app. TJHD is opening a new health department location - Yancey Community Health Center in Esmont. And September testing sites have been scheduled with faster test turnaround times.
TJHD COVID-19 Positivity Rate
As of today, September 4, 2020, TJHD has 2,597 positive COVID-19 cases and a 7.3% 7-day Moving Average Positivity rate. The following are 7-day Moving Average Positivity rates broken out by locale:

Albemarle - 7.62%
Charlottesville - 9.91%
Fluvanna - 2.46%
Greene - 1.85%
Louisa - 3.87%
Nelson - 8.15%

The 7-day Moving Average Percent Positivity is a data point that we use as a starting point for deeper conversations about transmission in our communities. We're working on a mechanism to add this to our TJHD COVID-19 Data Portal, including FAQs to better translate and explain the data.

Labor Day - Relax but Keep the Mask
Labor Day is a time to relax, take a day off, celebrate your hard work, and enjoy the last moments of summer. But it's no time to take a break from preventing the spread of COVID. Help avoid a surge in cases this Labor Day by wearing your mask and keeping your distance around others.
COVIDWISE - Add your Phone to the COVID Fight
VDH launched the COVIDWISE app the first week of August. As of August 31, 466,507 Virginians had downloaded the app – nearly 11% of all those with a SmartPhone! The app is more effective the more people use it - as it notifies any other users who have potentially been exposed. Encourage your network to download the app or visit COVIDWISE.org.
