TJHD BRIEFING:
We are two weeks into Phase Three of Forward Virginia and the changes that come with it — including Governor Ralph Northam's new plan for earlier cutoff of alcohol sales in bars and restaurants and Virginia's workplace safety requirements. The district is at a 7.6%, 7-day positivity rate (the WHO advises a 14-day positivity rate of 5% or lower) and we have increased FREE community testing sites in partnership with UVA Health and Sentara Martha Jefferson. All of this signals that it's time to limit gatherings, encourage friends and family to wear face coverings/masks in public spaces, and make sure you're 6 feet away from others.

Virginia First with Workplace Safety Standards for COVID-19
|
|
On July 15 the governor announced statewide safety standards meant to protect Virginia's workers from COVID-19. Virginia is the first state in the U.S. to adopt these standards which require employers to provide appropriate personal protective equipment and enforce physical distancing practices among employees. In addition to increased sanitation and hand-washing stations, the new standards will also require employers to notify employees within 24 hours if a coworker tests positive for COVID-19. For more details on the new workplace standards, see the
governor's press release

TJHD Back to School Vaccine Clinics
|
|
Efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19, such as stay-at-home orders, have led to decreased use of routine preventive medical services, including immunizations. Routine vaccinations are essential for protecting individuals and communities from diseases and outbreaks. TJHD is hosting a series of
2020 Back to School Vaccine clinics
for rising 7th graders to get TDAP and HPV vaccines. Albemarle County's vaccine clinic occurred in June but click on the sites below for upcoming events or call visit
TJHD.org
for your local health department's routine clinic schedule.

With mask-wearing compliance trending downward in the Commonwealth, TJHD is launching a new campaign next week to encourage the districts' residents to
#MaskUp
and maintain 6 feet between others. We want your feedback! We plan on involving community partners in the campaign development process as it evolves. Connect to the campaign via our social media channels:
