TJHD BRIEFING: July is just around the corner and with it comes some changes.
July 1 marks the reopening of health department services, increased FREE COVID-19 testing capacity, and the beginning of Forward Virginia Phase 3. What stays the same are the practices that keep you safe during the pandemic: wearing face coverings/masks in public spaces and maintaining 6 feet physical distance from others.
TJHD COVID-19 Data Portal
As of today, June 26, 2020, TJHD has 868 positive COVID-19 cases and a 5.8% 7-day positivity rate. You can find this data and more on the interactive TJHD COVID-19 Data Portal that is updated daily at 10 a.m. Long Term Care Facilities and Albemarle County Regional Jail data are updated every Friday at 10 a.m.

Phase 3 of the Forward Virginia begins Wednesday, July 1. Some changes from the previous phase:

  • The limit on social gathering increases from 50 to 250 people.

  • Restaurants can serve up to 250 patrons or 50% capacity with 6 ft distance between parties.

  • Gyms and fitness centers can open at 75% capacity or 250 people maintaining 10 feet distance between.

  • Pools can offer free swim.

  • Entertainment venues (bowling alleys, movie theaters, music venues, museums) can open with 50% occupancy or 1,000 people.

Remember, Executive Order 63 – which requires all patrons to wear cloth face coverings inside public spaces – continues in Phase 3.

TJHD Resumes Services
Local health department clinic services will reopen in July. Extra precautions will be in place to prevent any spread of COVID-19. This includes but is not limited to: clinics by appointment only, symptom screening, and face coverings/masks required inside health department buildings. FREE Drive-Through
COVID-19 Testing Sites
Beginning July 1, TJHD will increase the number of tests available at each TJHD drive-through testing site from 48 to 72. Testing will also be available for people ages 6 years and older (previously 18+). Below are the next three testing site locations - visit TJHD's COVID-19 Testing Website for more testing sites.
