UVA Students Return + Community Testing Sites
UVA hosted a town hall Zoom meeting this pas week to review its protocols for opening campus for classes September 8. Their safety measures include mandated masks and limiting gatherings on campus and in UVa affiliated buildings. The University is also partnering with TJHD to host FREE community testing sites four days a week. Volunteers are often needed at testing sites to help with registration and logistics. CDC's Hear Her Campaign
A recent CDC study suggested that pregnant women who get COVID-19 are more likely to be hospitalized and are at increased risk for ICU admission and to need ventilators than non pregnant women. While COVID-19 is a concern for pregnant women, according to the CDC, more than 700 women die each year from preventable pregnancy-related complications. The Hear Her Campaign aims to to raise awareness of all potentially life-threatening warning signs during and after pregnancy and improve communication between patients and their healthcare providers. It also hopes to empower women who are pregnant and postpartum to speak up if they have concerns and avoid delays in care. Visit the CDC website to learn more and see how you can help pregnant and postpartum women.
