Today begins Executive Order 63 of the Forward Virginia Guidelines . The new order requires Virginians to wear face coverings in public indoor settings to help contain the spread of the COVID-19

E.O. 63 applies to everyone ages 10 and over, except those with medical exemptions, in the following locations:

  • All brick and mortar retail establishments
  • All personal care and grooming establishments
  • Inside any places where people congregate
  • Inside food and beverage establishments
  • On public transportation
  • When accessing state or local government services

The order is a "matter of public health" and not a criminal matter, so any enforcement of the new face covering/mask order will be done by health officials rather than law enforcement officials. The goal is to protect people's health and not to get people in trouble for not wearing masks. TJHD is closely monitoring the situation and its role in enforcement as well as assisting those in need of face coverings.

For questions on Executive Order 63 or its enforcement, call 1-877-ASK-VDH3 or visit the Virginia Department of Health's cloth face covering website .
Cloth Face Coverings
You can make a cloth face covering from t-shirt material, a bandana, or sew your own .

TJHD is dedicated to ensuring that our community members have access to cloth face coverings, even if they can't afford to purchase one. We are partnering with with local food pantries, community-based organizations like CVILLE CRAFT AID , and the Charlottesville-UVA-Albemarle Emergency Operations Center to distribute cloth face coverings throughout the entire district.
