Volunteers Needed for Weekly Food Delivery
Through our ISAAC involvement and Social & Eco Justice Team work, 301 Faith Partners have been asked to take over weekly food delivery for immigrant families in our community through the summer months in a program set up and provided through Bohemian Foundation, Fort Collins restaurants, Feurza Latina and ISAAC. It is a program that helps families who have lost jobs and have no income resources to replace that loss. The number of families is now going down as jobs are becoming more available, but the need is expected to continue through the summer months. Plymouth congregation has been fulfilling this need for the last 10 months, and a new church host is needed for the summer.

Volunteers are needed for about 2 hours each Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 beginning June 1. A delivery truck will bring individually packed meals to our church parking lot, and we place the meals needed per family in large paper bags for delivery. A coordinator has the list of families, their size and their locations, sorted by area to facilitate delivery. Volunteers typically drive to the same families each week once a route is established. We hope to have volunteers and back up partners to cover all summer vacation schedules.

Currently we have 4 volunteers from 301 Faith Partners - at least 8 more are needed! It is not necessary to know any Spanish, but Spanish speakers in the mix will be helpful. Also- save your large paper bags with or without handles and leave at the church in Fellowship Hall.

Option: volunteers can accompany or shadow Plymouth volunteers in May (Fridays, May 21 or 28) if schedules permit.

If you can help or have questions about this program, contact Linn Zink, 301 Faith Partners, lczink@gmail.com.

Exodus of Youth & Families
Join ISAAC of Northern Colorado on Sunday, May 23 at 2 pm via Zoom, for this mini teach-in with experts Mary Campbell and Stephen Deal from the ELCA AMMPARO Program (Accompanying Migrant Minors with Protection, Advocacy, Representation and Opportunities).

The word “amparo” in Spanish means the protection of a living creature from suffering or damage. The AMMPARO strategy was developed after witnessing the plight of children who are forced to flee their communities because of complex and interrelated reasons. This workshop will cover the root causes of the migration of youth and families from Central America, what happens to migrants in transit, and once they reach the U.S. Learn about the many layers to migration and the U.S. immigration legal system as well as resources for how congregations can accompany migrants in their transition to life in a new community. See ISAAC’s Facebook post for more details.
