What we’re looking for: An Assistant Account Executive for MSL’s Consumer Brands practice in Chicago.


What you bring to the table: If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, and are excited to drive creative thinking for campaigns and influence, we want you on the team. You should have a passion for all things influence and social, and be able to work in an integrated model with our agency partners. Details are important, and you should be able to keep track of budgets and have on point project management skills. You’ll be comfortable digging in and supporting the execution of exciting work and working with your senior leaders to drive work forward. You should also have excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the team in executing influencer, social and PR plans and day-to-day client activities for well-known CPG brands, including supporting client calls, developing call agendas and reports, and project timelines
  • Support creation and execution of influencer and programs including the identification of influencers, and supporting the development of briefs, writing of social captions and visual direction
  • Stay on top of what is happening in culture and on social and contribute to creative ideation and program development
  • Support the creation of strong media and consumer materials including persuasive pitch letters, press releases, fact sheets, spokesperson bios, etc.; support creation of media lists and pitching
  • Support in person and virtual event and live shopping execution logistics including vendor coordination, run of show document creation, real-time results management and budget management
  • Support financial process for client programs including supporting management of budget trackers, billing and invoicing/vendor payments for programs
  • Conduct research for plan creation, including independent research as well as collaboration with in-house research/culture team on larger research initiatives
  • Conduct media monitoring and provide proactive updates and opportunities for clients
  • Compile monthly and quarterly client reports, and support other administrative items as needed


Requirements/Skills:

  • BA/BS Degree in a related field
  • 0-1 years in experience in PR
  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish proficiently
  • A strong interest in gaining exposure to and learning the nuances of a variety of industries
  • Flexibility/versatility to tackle different tasks throughout the day and pivot with little or no warning based on client needs
  • Excellent writing skills are essential to this position, as well as great attention to detail, organization, multi-tasking and proactivity
  • Strong verbal communication skills and professionalism
  • Excellent time management and organization skills, alongside the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Knowledge of industry tools like Critical Mention and Muck Rack is a plus

Compensation Range: $39,710- $57,615 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. 2026 Summer Internship Program

H/Advisors Abernathy, a leading strategic communications advisor, is providing paid summer internship opportunities in our New York, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. offices. This 10-week summer program is focused on providing insight into the world of strategic communications through introductions to our key practice areas, the opportunity to work with client teams on intricate, business critical issues and training on the advanced tools and practices that power our business. An H/Advisors Abernathy internship will provide participants with the skills, insights and knowledge to understand the highly complex, dynamic and interconnected world we live in.


We are looking for diverse backgrounds and skillsets, but with interests in strategic

communications, the media, business/finance, politics and regulatory affairs, law, strategy, and problem-solving. Strong candidates will be skilled writers and analytical thinkers who are interested in learning how we help our clients achieve business goals across the various sectors and industries in which we practice. Candidates must have completed at least their junior year before the internship program begins.


The program will begin June 1, 2026 and continue through August 7, 2026. Over the course of the summer, interns will be exposed to our firm and industry through practical trainings, performing complex research, getting plugged into client teams and through participating in seminars.


The responsibilities of an Intern may include:

  • Creating media lists and editorial calendars;
  • Tracking the firm’s clients in the media;
  • Researching prospective clients, current clients and client competitors;
  • Proofreading and editing press releases, memos, presentations and other documents created for clients;
  • Monitoring and analyzing breaking news and changes in stock prices of particular companies;
  • Collecting and summarizing SEC filings and analyst reports;
  • Helping to organize logistical aspects of corporate announcements;
  • Taking part in strategy and brainstorm sessions as well as trainings;
  • Working as a group with intern colleagues to complete a research project on a timely subject, presenting findings to the entire firm;
  • Supporting all colleagues, regardless of title or function.


Compensation

Salary: $18 per hour


Those selected for a preliminary interview with Human Resources will be contacted by a representative from the Human Resources department. Candidates who successfully advance in the process will complete a writing exercise and participate in at least one interview with a pair of Intern Coordinators.

2026 Associate Pool Program

H/Advisors Abernathy, a leading strategic communications advisor, is seeking ambitious and hardworking candidates to join its dynamic team of professionals in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington, D.C. as part of its 2026 Associate Pool Program, which will begin July 13, 2026. The first week of the program will be held in the New York office, regardless of office assignment.


The H/Advisors Abernathy Associate Pool Program offers intensive training over nearly 14 months, designed to provide participants with a strong foundation in strategic communications. Associates will be trained on the principles, practices and tools that enable our firm to provide best-in-class counsel to CEOs, board directors and senior executives on high-stakes issues and complex challenges. Associates will be exposed to, and work directly on, some of the

most consequential reputational issues faced by public, private and non-profit/non-governmental organizations today. Successful completion of the program would result in promotion to Account Executive.


The responsibilities of an Associate include:

  • Tracking and analyzing media coverage of clients and potential clients, peers, and industries;
  • Researching and analyzing client and potential client financial performance, peer groups, investor bases/ownership structures, industries and market dynamics;
  • Drafting and editing documents on behalf of both clients and the firm, including client memos, press releases, internal and external communications documents, and new business proposals;
  • Issuing press releases and communicating with reporters;
  • Providing ongoing account support to client teams;
  • Participation in rotational program across various practice areas including crisis, M&A, litigation and hedge funds
  • Participating in account team strategy and planning sessions.

Qualifications

College graduate. A general understanding of business and finance is desirable, as is familiarity with basic word processing, spreadsheets and PowerPoint (training courses will be provided, but we do expect a minimum comfort level).


Compensation

Salary Range: $66,000 to $71,000 per year, plus eligibility for consideration in our discretionary bonus pool.
