Honor the Gift Campaign
In April of 2019, the Transplant Life Foundation teamed up with the
honor the gift movement to reject coverage limits on immunosuppresvie medications. Kidney transplant recipients require immunosuppressive medications for the rest of their lives, but Medicare will only cover them for three-years.
Our impact so far:
- More than 5,739 people from all 50 states have signed the pledge at HonorTheGift.org.
- A reach of nearly 640,000 people on Facebook and Twitter and secured over 10,000 engagements with our content.
- Working with patients and stakeholders to connect with potential new campaign partners—especially within the Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) community. If you have a relationship with your local OPO, or you work for one and would like to help us spread the word, please download our Campaign Brief made specifically for OPOs and share to whomever you think might be interested.
We have helped make tremendous progress, but there is still more to accomplish! Stand up for kidney patients—join the #HonorTheGift movement and sign the pledge today.

Be a Volunteer
In the hustle and bustle world we live in, we rarely stop to think about how much our daily lives are impacted by others who volunteer their services. Did you know that Benjamin Franklin started the first volunteer fire department in the United States? Our country began its independence through the efforts of volunteer militia and some of our biggest charitable groups, like the American Red Cross and YMCA, have strong foundations in volunteerism.
The success of the Transplant Games is also strongly rooted in volunteers. We will have over 3,000 volunteer assignments for the 2020 Donate Life Transplant Games in the Meadowlands of New Jersey. Our 44+ teams consist of recipients, donors, donor families, caregivers and others who continually volunteer to promote organ, eye and tissue donation. For more information about volunteering at the Transplant Games, contact:
This month we salute all volunteers everywhere!

Competition Information
Leading up to the Transplant Games in July 2020, we will be featuring one to two sports in the newsletter. Our goal will be to highlight important rules, provide updates on any changes to the format, as well as increase interest in the competition. When registering for the Games, be sure to review each of the sports you will be participating in for final decisions on competition rules.
Darts
Darts is rapidly becoming one of our more popular competitions. A sport for all ages and skill levels, darts can take a while to play.
Typically Darts Formats
Cricket: Competitors have to hit the number spots of: 20, 19, 18, 17, 16, 15, and the Bullseye three times to cancel it out. The first to cancel out all their number spots, wins.
501: Competitors start at 501 and work down to zero by hitting the board. Each number corresponds to the amount subtracted from 501. The first competitor to reach zero wins.
In order to speed up play at the 2020 Games, TGA may restrict competitors to one format, implement other rule changes, such as going to a single elimination competition (except the finals), or change 501 to a 301 format to shorten the length of play.
