FRAUDULENT 'IMPOSTER' UNEMPLOYMENT CLAIMS
There has been a drastic increase in the number of fraudulent unemployment claims affecting Illinois employers, including some TMA members. According Sedgwick CMS, there is little employees can do to protect themselves against the criminals filing the imposter claims, using personal information they obtain via the dark web. The best thing you can do to help impacted employees is respond right away upon receipt of an unemployment claim for someone that is still employed. Alert the IDES to shut down the claim before any benefits are paid out. NEW FEMA VOLUNTARY AGREEMENT FOR MEDICAL SUPPLY MANUFACTURERS
Manufacturers of critical medical supplies now have a new direct line to the government to coordinate and develop plans of action for COVID response. The Federal Emergency Management Agency established a five-year voluntary agreement to maximize the effectiveness of manufacturing of health care resources. This agreement grants participating companies relief from antitrust laws for specific actions taken under the agreement. DOL: 40 STATES ADDED JOBS IN JULY, ALL 50 OVER LAST THREE MONTHS
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, 40 states added jobs in July. In the last two months, 22 states have added back 100,000 or more jobs, and every state has added back jobs over the last three months. The unemployment rate fell in 30 states in July, and the economy added back 9.3 million jobs since May, breaking historic records. More than 40 percent of the jobs lost during COVID have now been added back.
