TMA Europe announce keynote speaker for its East European conference
Bernd Mittermair, the Head of Group Workout at the Erste Group Bank AG, has been announced as the keynote speaker for TMA Europe's East European conference in February.

The fourth annual event, which is held to help turnaround professionals working in Central and Eastern Europe debate the specific emerging challenges and opportunities facing this region, will take place at the Erste Group Bank AG in Vienna on Wednesday 22nd February.
The conference will focus on non-performing loans with both the keynote speech and two panel debates exploring some of the ongoing issues surrounding NPLs in CEE.
In his keynote speech, Mr Mittermair will specifically look at the recently-published European Central Bank draft guidelines to banks on NPLs.
Mr Mittermair, who since joining Erste Group Bank AG in 1992 has been involved in all major due diligence processes of the group
, said his speech would look at the main proposals in the ECB guidelines and how these would influence NPL portfolio markets.
He said: "On the one hand significant transactions have been closed in recent years, and only a small part of NPL reductions in bank books are caused by portfolio sales. But portfolio sales are a sufficient and strong instrument to solve the NPL burden, and taking into account the various costs, including the cost of capital, NPL portfolio transactions can be the best option in terms of recovery and speed."
Mr Mittermair will also call for more support from local governments and authorities to improve inefficient and lengthy court procedures, which can cause real obstacles for investors and only serve to increase the cost of lending for all market particip
ants.
He added: "There are many factors involved, and this is a complex issue. What is clear is there is much work to do if we want to see normalised NPL levels in most CEE countries within three to five years."
The conference will run from 4pm until 8pm and there will be opportunities for networking before and after the speeches and debates.
It is free to attend but there is an admin charge of £15 which can be paid when you register at
