The Diocese of Mississippi's Ministry with LGBT Persons and Becoming Beloved Community are hosting an Inclusion Eucharist on Saturday, May 14 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Meridian.


This is a worship service to give thanks to God for and to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ siblings in the Diocese of Mississippi. The Rev. Christopher McAbee will preach, and the Rev. Susan Hrostowski and the Rev. Katie Sorey will preside. 


Following the service we will gather in the Parish Hall for a free lunch and holy fellowship. Please RSVP via the provided link, so we can have a headcount for lunch

We will gather at Camp Bratton-Green on May 24th for the Second Annual Culpepper Cookout! Come and join us for a day full of camp activities and an awesome BBQ Competition in the afternoon. We'll kick off the event at 10 am and finish the day at 4 pm!


All funds raised through the Culpepper Cookout will be dedicated to the construction of our new accessibility-focused challenge course!


Culpepper Cookout Silent Auction


The Culpepper Cookout is seeking silent auction donation items. Money raised at the cookout will be used for the maintenance and upkeep of the challenge course at Camp Bratton-Green. Please notify Anna Arnold by May 17 if you have an item to donate.

The Diocesan Altar Guild Annual Meeting will be held Saturday, May 31, at St. Columb's Episcopal Church, 550 Sunnybrook Road, Ridgeland.


Registration begins at 9 am, with a business meeting and program, "In Remembrance: A Review of the Altar through the Bible and Beyond" by St. Columb's Senior Warden Becky Hawkins following at 10 am.


The Rev. Canon Gary Meade will celebrate the Holy Eucharist with attendees at noon, with a luncheon and fellowship following at 1:00 pm.


Cost is $30 and will be collected at the door. RSVP by Friday, May 16, to Sharon Stewart at sstewart0114@gmail.com. Please include name, parish and email address.

Lay Worship Leader Training

The Episcopal Church today relies on trained Lay Worship Leaders to offer Morning Prayer and other offices in the absence of clergy. If you are interested in lay ministry in worship, please mark your calendar for one of these two important events in June for worship leaders:


  • Lay Worship Leader Conference on Saturday, June 14 (for those already licensed),
  • An Introduction to Lay Leadership in Worship on Saturday, June 28 at Church of the Nativity in Water Valley (for lay people considering a leadership role in worship).

We are seeking adults interested in serving as the next Coordinator of Happening in Mississippi, a weekend of renewal for young people in the Episcopal Church.


PERSONAL QUALITIES

Applicants must be at least 25 years old and have been through Happening.


The Coordinator of Happening in Mississippi is ideally someone who is:

  • able to delegate and work with a team
  • organized and good with logistics
  • an effective communicator


EXPECTATIONS

  • The Happening Coordinator empowers and supports the youth who lead each Happening.
  • The Coordinator and Steering Committee work together to oversee all of the administrative responsibilities and implementations as well as the health and spirituality of the Happening program.
  • This work occurs during staff training and Happening weekends as well as outside of those weekends.
  • During these weekends, this person must agree to abide by the Youth Community Covenant and agree to enforce it.
  • Applicants need to be available to commit to at least a 3-year term. A small honorarium is provided for each weekend.
