PREA - The Longview

As many of you know, the PREA Resource Center (PRC) is no longer receiving federal funding. We would like to thank all of those that supported and contributed to the important work of the PRC over these last several years.

While the structures around PREA are changing, there are some constants. For example, the PREA statute and regulations are still in place, and the existing audit requirements are currently in effect.  In addition, the underlying issues addressed by PREA, including sexual safety, security, and good operational practice remains at the heart of what we do as correctional professionals every day.

The Moss Group (TMG) has always seen PREA as a vehicle towards the broader idea of creating a culture of safety, dignity and respect through trusted reporting mechanisms, strong leadership, effective policies and practices, and exceptional professional development. Our mission remains, and we continue to work with agencies to address these operational and organizational factors, serving as a trusted partner. Please reach out to us with any questions or to start a conversation. We look forward to hearing from you.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

and Criminal Justice

By Caleb Asbridge, The Moss Group.

Building an AI-Ready Culture in Corrections: More Than Just Technology

Artificial intelligence (AI) is already beginning to reshape how justice and corrections agencies think about risk, efficiency, and decision-making. From predictive analytics to report generation, the possibilities seem promising—maybe even a little overwhelming. But for all the focus on algorithms, data pipelines, and software procurement, one factor seems to be consistently underestimated: organizational culture.

Culture is a corrections agency’s operating system. If that system is not prepared to support AI, no tool—no matter how powerful—will work as intended. The success or failure of AI adoption is not just about how good the tech is. Success hinges on how ready the people are to work with it, question it, and trust it.

Professional Boundaries in

Confinement and Community Settings

TMG is proud to partner with the Carey Group to launch a new online training focused on professional boundaries in confinement and community settings.

TMG and The Carey Group recognize that professional boundaries are key to safety and security. This training is designed for staff that work directly with clients and the incarcerated population to develop strategies to build rapport, recognize signs of potential abuse or violations of boundaries, and consider how to help colleagues who may be struggling with boundaries.

The training helps fulfill PREA standard 115.31 (8) how to avoid inappropriate relationships with incarcerated individuals. This training is approved by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) for 2.5 hours of Continuing Education Credit.
