PREA Coordinators Working Group Conference

At the end of July, TMG attended the National PREA Coordinators Working Group Conference in Buffalo, NY.

With 350 attendees comprised of PREA Coordinators, PREA Compliance Managers, administrators, agency investigators, sexual assault advocates, and other prevention/compliance stakeholders from federal, state, and county jurisdictions. Andie Moss was the opening plenary keynote speaker. Andie shared a call to action to attendees, urging them to help take PREA work to the next level, help new leaders understand the importance of sexual safety and culture so we don't lose sight of the progress the field has made, and continue to do the small things every day that help the people around them to create safety.

Caleb Asbridge and Jennifer Sheahan also presented during the conference on sexual safety and managing relationships in women's facilities.

Congratulations to the conference organizers for a great event!

Improving Institutional Corrections Training Academy:

Guiding Principles

Principle 1:

A correctional agency's culture is greatly influenced by effective training and professional development, including learning environments, tools, and leadership buy-in that empowers the workforce for safer, more effective corrections

Principle 2:

Crafting course content to shape our future workforce is aligned with the realities that the workforce will face on the job.

Principle 3:

Correctional onboarding creates an opportunity for a powerful, inspired start through content and participant engagement.

Principle 4:

Correctional training and human resources work hand in hand for continuity and to ensure excellence.

Principle 5:

Training is continuously reviewed and improved through rigorous training evaluation to ensure objectives are met.

Principle 6:

Innovation in correctional training is critical to safety, meeting the mission, and attracting new talent.
