A Message From Our Principal
Dear TMS Families,

In this past week, we shifted our morning routine to allow for more social time in the breezeway before heading to classes. It was great to see our students connecting with each other and embracing this new routine. Also, our lunch tables were recently moved back into the multi-purpose room (MPR) for meals. Outdoor seating remains available, and after spring break the large white tent will be removed, opening our full basketball court for play during lunches. We continue to follow safety and health guidance, and appreciate our students continuing to be respectful, responsible, and safe.

We have one more school week before Spring Break! This will be a welcomed break for all and I truly hope you take this time to enjoy extra rest, fun and time together! Wishing you a great week and upcoming Spring Break--Go Bears!

Warmly,

Amie Karkainen, Principal

SEL
Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) on Tuesday, April 19

We are committed to helping students develop social-emotional skills to succeed in life. Each month during an extended 5th period class, all students will complete a lesson from Second Step, our social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum.

On Tuesday, April 19, students will engage in the following lessons with objectives:

·    6th Grade – “Considering Multiple Perspectives” – Students will examine a social conflict from multiple perspectives so they can resolve minor conflicts.
·    7th Grade – “Resolving Conflict Part 1” – Students will describe the perspectives of everyone involved in a conflict in a nonjudgmental way.
·    8th Grade – “Making Things Right” – Students will identify a variety of ways for making amends to restore a relationship that’s been damaged.

It is exciting to see how our students benefit from our school-wide plan for social-emotional learning.

WEB

WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) is returning to Tolt next school year! We need 8th grade WEB leaders for next school year. Applications will be available after spring break and due to the counseling center on May 6. This orientation program is a great way for 8th grade WEB leaders to help our incoming 6th graders. 8th graders learn leadership skills and get to participate in fun activities. All current 7th graders are encouraged to apply to be a WEB leader for next school year.
