A Message From Our Principal
Dear Tolt Families,

We have a lot to celebrate as we head into our final two weeks of school. Our students successfully transitioned back into full-time, in-person learning this year. They again had opportunities to participate in sports, activities, and concerts. As the year progressed, we were able to provide our students with more opportunities to socialize with each other. We have much to build on as we close out this year and head into next year.

We will miss our current 8th graders and are proud of what they have accomplished over the last three years. We look forward to honoring them during our Moving Up Ceremony on June 16 at 7PM in the Cedarcrest High School gym. More information is below.

Our last day of school on Friday, June 17 is a half day with student dismissal at 11:52PM. We are planning a fun day for our students. After students check in to their 1st period classes, our 8th graders will head to the back fields for field day events and to be together one last time at Tolt. At the end of the day, we will have an all-school social.

Your help in keeping our school community healthy is appreciated, especially as we have experienced an increase in positive Covid-19 cases over the last several weeks. Masks are highly recommended. Keep your student home for a minimum of 24 hours if they are feeling sick, even with the mildest of symptoms. Get your student tested if you are unsure if they are Covid-19 positive. Our district testing program is available from 7-8AM and 2:30-3:30PM on school days at the Riverview ESC in Duvall. Contact Nurse Rachel Tomczek with any questions.

Thank you to everyone who has helped to make this year a success. Thank you to our wonderful Tolt staff for the many ways they have helped our students to learn and grow this year--our staff is incredible! And thank you to our parents and guardians for sharing your students with us and supporting our school--we are fortunate to have such great families at Tolt!

Warmly,
Amie Karkainen, Principal

TMS Inclusion Advisory Team Update
Throughout this semester, we have been intentional in taking steps to ensure every student is valued and belongs in our school. Our students participated in inclusion and belonging lessons on February 10, March 31, and May 5. During the lesson in February, our students completed a survey.

We formed the TMS Inclusion Advisory Group, which includes students, parents, and staff members, with support from our superintendent and a facilitator, to review the survey data and inform the next steps in action planning. This included looking for themes in the student comments. This team met on March 2, April 20, and May 25. Below are minutes from each of these meetings.

This important work will continue next year. We look forward to implementing what has been discussed, with a focus on seeking out and listening to student voice.

Book Return

The end of the year is coming quickly and students need to make sure their accounts are clear. Students can log on to their Destiny library account to see what is still checked out and what fees/fines they owe. Now is the time to turn in any library books and textbooks and look around the house to see if there are any other wayward library books hanging around the house.

ALL books are due Wednesday, June 6th.  Students with damage fees or lost fees can take care of payment at the front office or online.

Riverview’s Transportation team would like to remind families to please contact the Transportation Department and let them know whether your student(s) will be in need of school bus transportation next year. The sooner the Transportation team knows their potential student rider numbers, the sooner they can begin designing routes that will best serve students and families when it comes to providing transportation services.

Please contact our Transportation team at (425) 844-4540 or email your student(s) information to Tracy Graves gravest@rsd407.org or Sabrina Warren warrens@rsd407.org. Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Be Prepared!
We are in the final weeks of school and planning for next year is in full swing! Check out Tolt School Nurse website to see everything you need to do to prepare for next school year! This includes well child checks, sports physicals, immunizations, and more. If your student requires medications and/or a health plan at school, you will receive a health packet of paperwork over the summer to return to Nurse Rachel before the first day of school. Students with life-threatening conditions (severe allergies, asthma, diabetes, seizures, and some cardiac conditions) are mandated by Washington State Law to have medication and/or treatment orders, and an Emergency Care Plan in place, prior to the first day of school.

It is imperative to keep your student home when sick until symptoms are significantly improved or fully resolved, obtain a COVID test (including following up with a PCR test), and encourage wearing masks. Wearing masks has shown to be very effective in reducing COVID spread, as well as reducing cold/flu and stomach viruses. Free rapid antigen COVID testing for all students and staff - RSD District Office, 15510 1st Ave NE, Duvall. Walk-ins welcome Monday thru Friday: 7-8am and 2:30-3:30pm. District office is a medical facility in the testing area; if you arrive without a mask, you will be turned away and declined testing services. Please wear a mask when you arrive for testing!

For PCR testing locations: Lake Sammamish State Park COVID testing site, Snoqualmie Valley Hospital in North Bend, or Bellevue College for the fastest PCR results.

Let Attendance and/or Nurse Rachel know when your student is home sick and communicate any COVID test results (especially if positive!). Click to view the COVID-19 Symptom and Exposure Flowchart.
