A Message From Our Principal

Dear Tolt Families,

Our staff is looking forward to welcoming our students to our campus next Tuesday. We recognize some students may be excited for the school year, some students may be a little nervous, and some students may be experiencing a mix of emotions. We want our students to leave the first day feeling they belong at Tolt, are forming connections with each other and with our staff, and that they had a positive start to the school year. This year is going to be a great year for our Tolt Bears!

Below is information about the First Day of School on Tuesday. Please read through it carefully as we want to make sure you have the information you need so your student is prepared.

Please welcome Mary Ballingham (Language Arts Teacher) and Jill Klune (Language Arts and English Language Development Teacher) to Tolt. They join Mary Pat Hall (Math Teacher), Radhika Kaluskar (Math Teacher) and Kim Snavely (Choir and Tech Teacher) as an outstanding group of educators joining our staff!

Thank you for support of our school and the opportunity to work with your student!

Go Bears!

Amie Karkainen, Principal

Students who purchased PE shirts and did not pick them up at Back-to-Business Day will receive their shirt from their PE teacher at the beginning of their PE class (which may be at the start of 2nd or 3rd quarter).

  • For parents and guardians who plan on driving their student(s) to school, please see our pick-up and drop-off information. Please do not drop students off prior to 8:10AM, which is when we will have staff members available to supervise students. Attention:  First Day of School Schedule!

First Day of School--September 6th, 2022

The first day of school on Tuesday, September 6th will look different this year as we re-introduce Tolt's WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) program. WEB helps students transition into 6th grade through engaging activities led by 8th grade student leaders.

In the morning, 6th graders and 8th grade WEB leaders will be the only students on campus as they participate in WEB activities. The morning will include a welcome assembly, community-building activities, and a tour of our campus. Our 7th and 8th grade students will arrive in the afternoon for shortened class periods. Here is some important information, with times to note:

*6th graders will catch their bus at the normal time and arrive at Tolt for the start of school at 8:25AM. Breakfast will be available for purchase in the MPR as it normally is in the mornings when students get off the bus. There will be a 30-minute lunch scheduled for all 6th graders and 8th grade WEB leaders.

*7th and 8th graders will catch their bus 4 hours later than normal for a 12:25PM start time (this means if the bus normally picks a student up at 7:38 am, the bus will pick them up at 11:38 am on the first day of school). An optional lunch for purchase (after bus arrival and before 1st period), will be available in the MPR similarly to how breakfast is served in the mornings. Please have your students eat at home before coming to school if they are not purchasing lunch at Tolt on the first day. 7th and 8th graders should not arrive on campus until at least noon as their day will not start until 12:25 pm.

Fall Sports Practice

First day of Fall sports practice begins the first day of school on Tuesday, September 6 after school at 3:00PM. Please make sure your student athlete has the appropriate clothing/shoes and a water bottle. If your student athlete has been cleared to participate, you would have received a notice from Final Forms. If your student athlete is missing any piece of the sports registration requirements and is not cleared, they can not attend practice until they are cleared--be sure they know to go home after school via their regular planned transportation (bus/walk/parent pick-up).

There is NO SPORTS BUS on the first week of school. The Sports Bus will start on Monday, September 12. Please check the website calendar for details.
