Productive Meetings with Highest Attendance to Date
| |
Held virtually from April 10 through 26, the Spring Meetings of The Masonry Society were productive with most TMS Committees meeting (several met earlier this year). More than ¼ of TMS’s membership participated in the meetings, along with many non-members. These virtual meetings were the most attended spring meetings to date. The Virtual meetings allowed more individuals to participate. A short report on the meetings and major actions taken is posted here. | |
Existing Masonry Standards Committee Formed
Applications for Membership open until August 1, 2024
| |
Based on a highly successful Existing Masonry Summit held earlier this year, the Existing Masonry Committee and the Technical Activities Committee recommended the creation of a new Committee to develop and maintain standard requirements for the assessment, repair, rehabilitation, restoration, retrofit, and preservation of existing masonry buildings for the betterment of the public, while balancing economy to preserve, where possible, the heritage of existing masonry. The Board of Directors enthusiastically approved this recommendation creating the Existing Masonry Standards Committee. Heather Sustersic of Colby Company has been appointed to lead the new Committee as Chair. Members are solicited and will be considered through August 1, 2024. However, because of balance requirements, voting membership may be limited.
The Committee will be formed late this summer, and will meet at TMS's Annual Meeting for the first time.
