A Letter From Our Principal

Dear Thunderbird Families,
The last few weeks have truly been exciting at Tolt! While it may take some time before we feel like we are in a groove with hybrid learning, we are figuring out ways to engage students in learning in this new environment. As our students are becoming more comfortable with our safety protocols and smaller classes, they are starting to talk more with their teachers and other students. It has been particularly encouraging to see students learning remotely and students learning in-person, interacting with each other in our morning classes. Your continued patience and grace as we adapt to hybrid learning is much appreciated.
As we head into Spring Break, I hope your family can spend time outside, away from screens, and doing something you enjoy--especially since this year has been anything but normal, our students will benefit from time disconnecting from school. And when we return on April 19, we will build on our positive momentum to finish this year out strong.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we work together to provide our students with whatever they need to be successful. It is an honor to partner with you on behalf of our amazing students!
Warmly,
Amie Karkainen, Principal

Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) Benefits
Now Available to Eligible Students*
*Eligible families should confirm addresses with their school at their earliest opportunity.
Dear Riverview Community,
Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) benefits are now available to eligible students in our school district. P-EBT is money for food for meals students missed at school during the school day because of the pandemic. Benefits are available to students who are:
· Eligible for free or reduced-price school meals AND
· Enrolled in our school district this school year.
There is no need to apply to receive these benefits. Each eligible student will receive a P-EBT card in the mail. If your family has moved recently, make sure your address on file with our district is up to date. The first payment of these benefits will arrive in the mail sometime in April.
Keep your P-EBT Card! More benefits may be added throughout the school year to students’ EBT cards if:
· Schools remain closed OR
· If students continue to miss meals served during the school day due to reduced school hours.
Do you have any questions about P-EBT? If so, call the P-EBT Contact Center at 1-833-518-0282 or visit www.dshs.wa.gov/pebt.
Sincerely,
Sharon Fowler
Program Assistant

DAILY Wellness Screening Required
Every day by 7:30 AM (for AM Hybrid)/10:30AM (for PM Hybrid), if your student attends in-person classes on Tolt’s campus, they must complete the Skyward Wellness Screening. You may complete the screening on behalf of your student(s) or 6-8th graders may complete it for themselves. The Wellness Screening may be completed in the Skyward app you can download to your phone or via laptop. Please view the step-by-step video for information on how to complete the attestation. If you have any questions, contact Tolt’s Main Office at 425-844-4600 to ask for help.
If your student has not completed a wellness screening by the time they arrive on campus, their name appears on our screening report and they must go through the MPR (cafeteria) and complete their screening with temp check.
Travel After Vaccination
With spring break starting, many schools have been asking Public Health about updated guidance regarding travel and quarantine for those people who are fully vaccinated. The CDC’s recent guidance for individuals who have been fully vaccinated (see above) does not include any changes to quarantine following travel.
The safest option is to eliminate all non-essential travel to limit the spread of COVID-19. In King County, anyone arriving from other states or countries – including returning Washington residents – should quarantine for 14 days after arrival and monitor for symptoms of COVID-19. If it is not possible for the individual to quarantine for 14 days, they should quarantine and self-monitor for 10 days. If they are unable to quarantine for 10 days, they should quarantine for 7 full days after arrival.
These recommendations apply to all people, including those who are fully vaccinated.

Cold, Flu, Allergies, COVID-19?!?
We are settling into prime allergy season and symptoms can be challenging to decipher. If your student is experiencing sore throat, cough, runny/congested nose, fever (100.4 or higher) they need to stay home and we need to have you call attendance and let Mrs. Stout know. After notifying attendance, please call or email Nurse Rachel (425-844-4662, tomczekr@rsd407.org) to talk through symptoms, next steps, and how long your student needs to stay home from school.
Updated Guidance from the CDC – When You’ve Been Fully Vaccinated
This last week, the CDC issued updated guidance, also adopted by the Washington Department of Health, with guidelines for people who have been fully vaccinated. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or two weeks following the single dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine. The guidelines allow fully vaccinated people to gather with one another inside, without masks or distancing, and allows for some gatherings between low-risk unvaccinated people and those who are fully vaccinated. For more detail about what has – and hasn’t – changed, please visit the CDC’s website.
COVID-19 Updates
State's online eligibility tool no longer required starting March 31. Phase Finder will no longer be required to verify COVID-19 vaccine eligibility. Instead, people who want a vaccine should check DOH's priority guidance webpage and, if eligible, use the Vaccine Locator to find an appointment. Read the full news release here.
