MESSAGE FROM TMS PRESIDENT SHARON J. MERCHANT

May is recognized as Mental Health Awareness Month, serving as a reminder that mental health is a vital aspect of overall wellness, impacting our relationships, work performance, and physical health. Each May organizations, advocates, and individuals come together to share resources, information, and personal stories. The goal is to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and provide support to those facing challenges. By raising awareness, we can break down barriers and encourage individuals to seek help. If you'd like to learn more about mental health, its impact, and available resources, please visit https://namipbc.org/

TMS IS PROVIDING CRITICAL INFORMATION ON TRANSPORTATION PROJECTS

TMS is honored to be working with the Captec Engineering and Erdman Anthony teams on multiple transportation resurfacing, restoration, and rehabilitation (RRR) projects in West Palm Beach. As the public involvement specialists for these projects, we are tasked with developing Community Awareness Plans (CAP) and preparing complete mailing databases to ensure all residents, businesses, elected officials, City/County staff, and agencies receive notification of the project. We also develop collateral flyers, and meeting notifications and handled all meeting logistics, including but not limited to finding venues for the meetings, moderating the virtual meetings, staffing the in-person meetings, and providing meeting notes.

TMS KEEPS NEIGHBORS INFORMED ON UTILITY PROJECTS

We have enjoyed working with our friends at CES on several utility projects in northern Palm Beach County. These projects included water main and low-pressure force main replacements and improvements. As part of our deliverables, we were tasked with developing project webpages to provide current and up-to-date project information. We also set up and monitored project hotlines, acting as the first point of contact for residents and other stakeholders, freeing up the engineers and the rest of the project team to do what they do best. TMS also prepared a mailing list of all residents, property owners, and affected stakeholders. We developed meeting notifications, informational flyers, and staffed meetings to assist CES.

WHERE HAS SAMMIE BEEN?

The first stop on the Sammie Tour was the glittering 50th Anniversary Gala of The Urban League of Palm Beach County. You could say Sammie went for the cake, but the real draw was this incredible organization's persistent push for social and economic equality among African Americans, a noble cause that they've championed since 1973.

Next up, Sammie attended the 16th Annual 'My Teacher, My Hero' Awards, hosted by the indomitable Dr. Emma Banks, CEO & Founder of Inlet Grove Community High School. Attending this event is an emotional roller-coaster, where tear-jerking stories of dedication are immediately followed by an overwhelming urge to hug the nearest teacher. Kudos to all the educators who were nominated by their students and honored that night!

Just when we thought he might settle down for a breather, Sammie launched himself headfirst into the bustling Hollywood Boulevard Streetscapes Project, where he put on his Merchant Project Liaison hat and blended into the City of Hollywood. Who said business couldn't be an adventure? It turns out, Hollywood Boulevard is not just a street; it’s a whirlwind of flavors and culture! Navigating through an assortment of eateries and shops, Sammie has grown incredibly fond of the vibrant business owners and merchants in this area.

SALLY SAYS, BY SALLY MERCHANT

Sally Says, by Sally Merchant

Mom says all Mothers have a special day in May. I want to know when is Bulldog Dog Day? Sure, my Mom is special. She takes me places and feeds me. But a dog’s job is never done! I get up early, water the yard, scare off golf course workers, eat, scare off the neighborhood critters, scare off panhandlers, patrol the office, get rid of fattening food that certain people in my office shouldn’t be eating, guard the car while Mom does errands, eat, guard the house, sleep, and start over. Mom says May 14th is International Chihuahua Appreciation Day. Seriously? It’s a thing, look it up! I could be a professional Chihuahua eater and make lots of money like the corn and hotdog guys. What makes them so special? May 20th is National Rescue Dog Day. Okay, there had better be special treats for me because Mom rescued me from a terrible situation. Why isn’t there a National American Bulldog Day? Anyone who is lucky enough to have one of us in the family knows we should be appreciated. Maybe I could get Aunt Val to start a marketing campaign for me. Would you sign my petition? You would think my lobbyist Mom could think this stuff up without any help from me!

That’s all for now.

TMS Chief of Security
