Founded by Sharon Merchant, whose remarkable journey from the Florida House of Representatives to the corridors of government and community relationships led to the inception of TMS, our company has evolved into a powerhouse specializing in public involvement, government relations, and community relations. From humble beginnings, TMS has grown to serve a diverse clientele, including developers, engineers, municipalities, and other private sector entities. We reflect with gratitude on this journey and eagerly anticipate the next 20 years of innovation and impact. HEY CITIES AND COUNTIES… DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS?

The 2023 Florida Legislature passed a law requiring cities and counties to do an assessment of the fiscal impact of any new ordinance on local businesses. There are also requirements to notify the public 30 days before the ordinance is heard. For a checklist of what must be done to be in compliance and help to do it, call us at 561-315-9110 or email us at [email protected]. We did all the homework for you and can make it easy. PS This goes into effect in October 2023.

On another note, the EPA is requiring all cities, counties, and utilities that provide water and sewer service to do an assessment of all properties to check for lead and copper. There is also a notice requirement for all property owners. We are teaming with engineering firms to provide both the technical information and communication necessary to meet the requirements. WHERE HAS SAMMIE BEEN?

This month, Sammie has been on the move, engaging with the vibrant and dynamic leadership scene right here in Palm Beach County. He attended the Leadership Opening retreat, which welcomed the Class of 2024 for Leadership Palm Beach County. This class is filled with leaders from various industry sectors and backgrounds who have come together to learn, grow, and collaborate on making Palm Beach County an even better place. Sammie was truly inspired by the passion and commitment of this new class. Sammie also had the pleasure of attending the Mayor's Breakfast, a significant event that brought together ten Mayors from North Palm Beach County. It was a platform for these dedicated leaders to provide updates on their municipalities and share exciting developments happening within their communities. It's clear that they are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for our residents and visitors alike.

SALLY SAYS, IN MEMORIAM, BY SHARON MERCHANT

Sally went to be with her Maker and likely Buck Merchant earlier this month. She was six years old and had a pretty rough start when I rescued her, four years ago. Unlike Buck, she did not guard by simply being big. If you thought you were entering her office or her home, you had another think coming. Only after being convinced that you were not a serial killer could you enter. Once you gained Sally’s trust, she was a loyal girl. She especially loved her Aunt Bon and Uncle Todd. Sammie made friends over several months and a whole lot of French fries and chicken nuggets. You should have seen her smile after scaring the crud out of golfers in their backswings. She absolutely knew what she was doing and trotted back inside smiling. A house and car are mighty empty without a good dog.

Rest in peace, good girl.
